So sorry Gordo.I posted this about 15 minutes ago, and after that I got the call that my dad passed away.
Please keep my family in your prayers.
Thank you for asking, friend.
Right now all is well. My son was moved from Trauma ICU to the step-down progressive care unit. He has been battling some typical sorts of infections, pneumonia, c-diff, etc, that are not uncommon for his situation. The hospital is currently working on rehab hospitals as he will have a long road to recovery ahead of him.
It is hard to imagine that one month ago we were talking survival and now we are talking quality of life. God has been good to us.
Got to spend the weekend with the other bits, taking them to the Lost Sea in Sweetwater, to a Knoxville Smokies game (Bush's Beans section for the win - tickets and dinner/sodas - yes please!) and to see the Mission Impossible movie. Almost felt like summer with the family. They have headed home to NC while I stay with the boy here (he was airlifted from NC to UT trauma after the accident in the mountains.)
Appreciate you checking in,
-RW-
Dr Killian. Middle valley animal hospital. The best at this in the area. (Tell him I said hello)Really worried about Gus he's drugged out but wants to follow wife everywhere and he can't. praying if we can keep him imobilised we can avoid surgery which would be a couple of grand. I know it's our dog. However he's our baby. He sat next to me as a puppy throughout my Covid recovery and year I was on oxygen in his puppy kennel. He's a super strong, and fearless pup.....which is a problem ATM. Because he can't jump up on couch, and he can't jump down, and he's supposed to stay off leg entirely. But even with pain he wants to just follow everywhere. He is having a hard time just going to bathroom. I know some will think he's just a dog, but he's family. Finding a soft carrier for a 39 pound full size hunting doxie is gonna be a pain, but hoping we can find something to keep him from moving.
