Yes. I’m pretty sure the 12 seed upsetting the 5 seed is the most common
Since 1994:
  • No. 1 vs. No. 16: 119–1 (99.2% win percentage)
  • No. 2 vs. No. 15: 120–0 (100%)
  • No. 3 vs. No. 14: 120–0 (100%)
  • No. 4 vs. No. 13: 113–7 (94.2%)
  • No. 5 vs. No. 12: 93–27 (77.5%)
  • No. 6 vs. No. 11: 83–37 (69.2%)
  • No. 7 vs. No. 10: 79–41 (65.8%)
  • No. 8 vs. No. 9: 61–59 (50.8%)
Not sure when this was last updated - I think before last year's tournament, where no 12 seeds won a game (nor 11 seeds - Oregon and SD St. both won a game as 10 seeds). 12 seeds have made it to the Sweet 16 four times (most recently Quinnipiac in 2017), whereas 10-11 seeds have made it to the Elite 8 a few times and 7-9 seeds have gone all the way to the Final 4.

I think Texas is the only team that can beat UCONN.
UConn fan here…I think that Texas is the most likely winner, followed by UCLA. This is the first time I’ve ever thought that Texas had a really solid offense- last year they were limited by the inability to score against tough defenses. UCLA a has a good offense and they are experienced. UConn just seems uncharacteristically sloppy and just a little off this year.

I’m inclined to take the field too. This is the only year I can remember that UConn didn’t really play any top teams non-conference, so there is that unknown. Plus, I think they can be easily defended if an actual well coached team shows up (I don’t trust many coaches lol). No shade at them, because I respect the hell out of how they play and Geno coaches them. It will just be fun to see how they match up with UCLA, Texas, LSU, or South Carolina this year. I can’t see blow outs like last year, but you never know.
The Big East is terrible this year, but they did play the toughest Non-Conference schedule in the country.

I didn’t say their schedule sucked. I was more referencing top teams as in the actual title contenders ( like top 4-5), imo, which they did not play. Doesn’t mean they won’t win it though. My post was only in reference to them not playing any of the teams I thought could compete with them.

Has UConn played UCLA in the past few years?
Is that an actual question that you want an actual answer for, or is that sarcasm? They played in a virtual nail barrier in last year‘s final four that had everyone sitting at the edge of their seat until the final buzzer. But just in case that is a serious question -

“No. 2 seed UConn dominated No. 1 seed UCLA 85-51 in the 2025 NCAA Women's Final Four semifinal on April 4, 2025, in Tampa, setting a record for the largest margin of victory in Final Four history.”

Sorry, I saw that that was already answered.
