UK is good and very dangerous. Tall, athletic, two strong posts flanked by shooters and a smart PG. Their biggest weakness is their lack of depth. They only reliably go 6 players deep, and rely heavily on 4 of them playing pretty much the whole game.I enjoyed seeing WVU's underdog wins this season. Sad to see them go out, but they had a good season. I'm ambivalent about Kentucky; I actually had to look up their schedule to refresh my memory. They played Vandy and SCar shockingly close. Surprise bracket buster in the E8?
I'm so happy for Teoni Key and she makes such a difference for them. Their mid season down patch was definitely around her absence. When Tamari was here, we always heard Teoni was the better player of the two. She's just worlds more mobile.UK is good and very dangerous. I was just thinking the same thing about the SEC. Turns those who make it into the second weekend will be exactly who we would have predicted. There's a definite top tier of SC, Texas, LSU who are almost always going to win the league championship. Then a level under them of Oklahoma Vandy and Kentucky. Beyond that, I think Alabama and Georgia are creeping up, while we're crashing down. And the rest are just there. There are about 8 competitive teams on a nationally scale annually and that’s it.
I expected more of Ole Miss. They had that game vs. Minny until McMahon fouled out and they didn't have any scorers left.I was just thinking the same thing about the SEC. I forgot all about Ole Miss I knew I was forgetting someone. I'd put them slightly above Alabama and Georgia but slightly under the Oklahoma Kentucky Vandy tier. And that's probably OMs ceiling because of offensive struggles.I expected more of Ole Miss. They had that game vs. Minny until McMahon fouled out and they didn't have any scorers left.
UK was definitelky way better than their record. I thought they would be a top 5 finish in the conference.
Plus next season USC will have JuJu, Davidson, Smith and Hall all 4 are scorers... Don't believe there's enough shots to satisfy their appetite...Honestly, USC's beatdown feels worse, at least to me. Not because of the score. I mean, SCar is a good team and USC is missing JuJu. But it feels like USC has bigger issues.
I don't know, these 2nd round games just made me wish they'd go back to neutral sites. Lots of teams on the road coming really close but just falling short. I think the sport has grown enough that we're ready for it, and we'd see quite a few more upsets.Games like this make it so clear that women’s basketball still isn’t deep. Attendance is the bugaboo. They tried neutral sites for those 1 vs 16 match ups a few years back. It was an unmitigated disaster attendence wise and the games were still blowouts. Kentucky MBB fans might travel to Oklahoma City to see a #3 vs 10 but not WBB. The games had the feel of middle school games.I would prefer neutral sites as well. Would see more upsets for sure.
