D1 posted updated list today.

No major change as the Vols remain at #2 but the #15 seed is now Oregon State instead of East Carolina who moved up to #13.
I thought Oregon State would fall out of hosting but they are still holding on even after the ugly loss to pitiful Stanford team yesterday.

Georgia still at #8 but I bet they aren't for long as the 3 ACC teams at 9-10-11 all won yesterday. I have to believe one of them will grab that spot and UGA will fall to a 9-16 regional host.

Indiana State lost yesterday to the Salukis. If they lose another game this weekend, then the Sycamores will steal an at-large bid from someone

I'm not sure there will be enough spots for 10 or 11 SEC teams as the Pac12 and Big10 tourneys are causing some mayhem.

Write this down, If Ohio State comes back from the dead and wins the Big 10 tourney, I have to believe that the Buckeyes in Knoxville would be a real possibility. Bill Mosiello returns to LNS. If OSU wins, then Nebraska and Illinois will still get in as at-large teams taking away another potential at-large for SEC.

D1 released another projection this morning

#2 Tennessee
Louisiana (RPI #39)
UCF (#32)
Army (#124)

paired against

#15 Indiana State
Mississippi State
Indiana
Bowling Green

That's the roughest region projection I've seen for Tennessee. Those are 3 very good teams that woudl come to Knoxville. I-State has an easier road with only 1 serious contender.

#1 Kentucky has San Diege, Illinois and Sacred Heart
North Carolina moves up to #3 and has DBU, UNCG, and Fairfield.
#4 A&M has Texas, California and Abilene Christian.

Georgia is still at #8 but the article intimates that FSU and UVA are very close to nosing them out.

For sure. I would like the #1 overall seed in general and feel that Tennessee's resume absolute deserves it, but in this particular scenario Kentucky gets a relative cakewalk so it would be that much more beneficial.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that D-1 may get the host seeds relatively accurate but I bet they aren’t more than 50-50 on which teams are slotted to regionals past that. I just want to know who the 15 and 16 seeds are that we might face in supers. If they get upset and we are playing another team then so be it. I have tons of belief that this team will not lose a supers series to a team ranked 15th or lower in country. I also don’t think we will lose two games in regionals to a team and teams ranked outside of the top 30 in regionals. I am pumped!

Never underestimate the NCAA when it comes to seeding the Vols. Our Super team in 2022 was paired with a Notre Dame team that D1 baseball predicted was a top 16 host seed who somehow didn't end up as a national seed and slid into the 16 seed bracket to match up with us. Imagine that.

Well we were the better team and for some reasons both on and off the field we lost. That was a one in a million occurrence that won’t be repeating itself. Notre Dame was and still is unimpressive.

Yeah Notre Dame had a very mediocre year, played no one, and weren't a good hitting team, yet somehow they show up hammering one ball after another in the super regional. Something was pretty weird with that.

Yep. Given our history with the NCAA and especially this year's run-ins, you can bet the farm they'll lay several claymore opponents in our path and if we go far enough, I'll be stunned if Wake and Chase Burns aren't there waiting for us. They won't be able to resist that.

Not a conspiracy whenever we fought them in court over NIL and won. They run the tournament so they hold all the cards and they are a vindictive bunch.
Exactly. They put us in Purdues bracket ffs. They know what they’re doing. It’s up to us to over come it and give them a giant middle finger on our way to a natty.

Uh….is this not exactly how seeding is supposed to work?? Notre Dame was right on the outside of the hosting conversation so they went to the last selected host, which makes complete sense. Committee gave the “worst” host the best non-host team. That’s just how seeding works. I don’t think it was designed to screw us. We screwed ourselves.

If Tennessee would've taken care of business vs Kentucky on Senior Day instead of losing, this wouldn't even been a discussion.

Tennessee would've got the #1 seed out West.

This rite here, the straight to worse case scenario and the brackets haven't even came out yet lol.

So what if Tennessee gets Wake Forest in a Super Regional matchup? You scared of one pitcher?

Tournaments have storylines in every collegiate sport, there is no better story than Chase Burns returning to Tennessee as a Demon Deacon to play in Super Regional.

I suppose Virginia is in the same boat as Tennessee then.
Very possible but it felt like we were the ones in their line of fire. The media focused on Tennessee at least because of the Nico situation so we got more publicity.
