NCAA rules on Baylor

I will only say this. If Baylor gets 4 years of "double secret" probation for their shenanigans, UT better get a serious slap on the wrist.

Cannot even compare sexual assault with "allegedly" funneling a bit of cash to recruits in a hilarious way.

Don't forget about the $5,000 fine, I'm sure that will hurt!

I think this bodes well for UT. The NCAA is not in a position to hand down stiff punishments rn.

See, this is where I start to have serious questions.

Let's say that the judgement against UT is handed down next year (2022). Let's just say theoretically that we get 15 scolly reductions over five years and a bowl ban of a year or two.

Now, let's say little UT and Oklahoma join in 23 and the SEC and whatever remains of the other P5 say screw it, and leave the NCAA to do their own thing.

How would the penalties work at that point considering they were handed down by an entity UT really would not be associated with any longer?

Have to agree though, with the lack of penalty Baylor got, Tennessee better be penalized just slightly above nothing. Of course the NCAA being what it is, I am sure we will get the hammer dropped.

By the way, this wasn’t any sort of not guilty verdict or anything either.

The NCAA basically said that Baylor’s callousness and ignorance when it came to sexual assault was so bad AT THE ENTIRE SCHOOL that the athletes weren’t getting special treatment, hence no violations.

UNC got off for the exact same reason.

The bogus classes were available to all students, not just athletes, so NCAA had no jurisdiction.

Art Briles will be head coach at an SEC by January

LSU is my guess lol

Unless Orgeron pulls a rabbit outta his butt this season I could fully see LSU canning him. Part of it will be the timing. As Texas changed coaches last year and most of the other really big dogs have coaches that are secure. Only ones that might come open would be Michigan depending on what happens with Harbaugh, and maybe a UF or Oklahoma if Mullen or Riley bolt to the pros. In other words, they may have the chess board to themselves.

If that happens though, I think the Tigers will go big game hunting-for someone bigger and younger than Briles. I don't think the boosters there have still gotten over whiffing on Tom Hermann the last go around when they had to settle for Orgeron so they will surely be foaming at the mouth this time.

I don't think he needs to pull a rabbit out of his butt this season in order to keep his job, but he doesn't need to lose any more than about 3 games. They do get Auburn, Florida, and A&M in Baton Rouge and their fans will expect to win all of those.

Like I said, I think LSU may be in play simply because of timing.

I just can think of any other top 10-20 jobs coaches who are on the hot seat other than maybe Harbaugh. Somebody may leave for the NFL or whatever but the big dogs are either set or have recently changed coaches. Of course there is the possibility that a recent hire really bombs-maybe Norvell at FSU goes 3-9 or something and they pull the plug.

If Orgeron turns in another sub-par year? Those Cajuns think every season should be like 2019.

If O turns in a subpar year I think he would be on a very hot seat (meaning 2022 would need to be stellar) but not fired yet. LSU fans have and should have high expectations but they are not as crazy as Bammers who expect to win or at least be in the title game every year. I think LSU fans expect to lose no more than a couple games every year.

They didn't run Les off until he started losing to teams like Arkansas and Mississippi St and bringing the loss total to 3-4 a year.

Art Briles is never getting a job again. He’s still incredibly toxic. He was not found absolved of any wrongdoing despite what Clay Travis wants you to think.

Matt Wells had better pull a rabbit out of his arse in Lubbock this season. Briles is a Tech grad and former Tech assistant. West Texans love him.

I'm not even sure Briles would take that job.

The Red Raiders beating little UT and holding the #1 spot in the country was a long time ago.

Kingsbury was all flash and little substance-basically a West Texas version of Butch Jones. If Mahomes had not landed in a perfect spot in KC to get a year to learn the game under a consummate pro (Alex Smith), I really wonder if Kingsbury would even still have a job.

Texas Tech has been on a slow slide down since they canned Leach-much like Kansas and Mangino.

Sooner or later, schools are going to realize that if you never win in football, and you find a coach who does actually win-hold onto them no matter how big of a jerk they are.

If they didn't violate NCAA rules, why are they getting fined and put on probation?

Just goes to show the NCAA needs to be done away with.
They got penalized for minor recruiting infractions. The penalties had nothing to do with the sexual assault allegations.
