NCAA probing Tennessee basketball program

Yeah, use that kind of defense with the 'AA. "How do you know it was us? I'm sure a kid who had never set foot in Knoxville prior to his official visit here was getting all kinds of calls from there." That'll work.

If that is really all takes to find a coach guilty then the NCAA is a bigger joke than I thought.

In fact, I am going to go buy a few pre paid phones in Lexington and pay some kid at their next 5 star recruits HS 50 bucks for his number and call him 3 times a day.

Got to love how the interwebs and ESPN are all over this story but the KNS's assigned beat writer is silent. Awesome reporting.

I think this is a very serious situation for UT basketball, when the ncaa gets it's foot in the door they will investigate every recruit UT has signed or tried to sign since CBP arrived at UT and I don't think there's a school in the country that doesn't have something to hide.

Do it anyway.

Well, this has been an unpleasant development tonight. I'll wait to see how it plays out. Usually, these things look devastating initially and then slowly lessen in damage and importance. Sometimes, they linger and you get USC, but more often the big scandals fizzle out. I hope that happens here.

Over on the other board, a poster with good cred says his AAU buddy tells him that Cal is 100% behind this and wants to crush Pearl and UT in the worst way. Who knows at this point. I kind of have a hard time seeing this thing come to hurt us too much, although I could see Jones or someone offered as a sacrificial lamb.

There obviously is bad blood been Cal and bruce. I've got a feeling it's not just Cal who blew the horn, though.

Link to where Hat claimed to be an insider, or to have any sort of connection to the UT staff?

Link to hatvol posting on the KNS sites (which is where the guy Forbes was referring to was posting)?

No links will come, because they don't exist.

Link to Forbes saying "there was a guy on the KNS sites...."

He said "on the message boards" and he was talking about a person who pretends to be an insider...if the shoe fits...

Forbes did not say insider in the UT program I do not believe. He could have been saying that if there was a guy who lived in Knoxville who was friends with lots of top 10 coaches nationally, they would have heard of him before.

If I own a country record label in Knoxville, Tennessee, and a person claims to be friends with Rodney Atkins, Taylor Swift, Hank Williams Jr., George Jones and Willie Nelson who lives here in town, I would hear about them from someone in my milieu. If they were a fan who paid to get passes for meet and greets where they got their picture taken and they went to the CMA awards and were about as close "friends" with them as the guy who restocks the catering for the green room, it would make lots of sense that I never heard of him.

if you go on ESPN and read about it, what I was surprised about were the comments... I know a lot of ppl hate our football program because we have winning records against most of the teams we play. The only ones in this year's schedule that we dont have winning recs against are Bama 46-37 (i think), and Fla (20-19).

But back to what I was saying, what I was surprised about was how many ppl hated our basketball team as well. And Bruce Pearl. Everybody on there was talking about how Pearl is a slimy version of Rick Pitino and Calapari's offspring. I mean, really?

Ive never gotten that from him. Mostly they were all anti-semetics I assume, just mad bc our school is able to be successful (for the most part) in multiple sports instead of just one.

I hate going on ESPN anymore just because it's pointless trying to argue with those bafoons.... There is a lot more hate for Tennessee on there than I have experienced in the real world and I have lived in Tx, Miss, Fla, Ga, and SC, but I call Tn home.

Hat tore you to shreds in the court room didn't he?

No I do not prosecute drunk drivers. Effective defense attorneys do not end up in court very often, they have a ton of churn of plea deals because they have established a reputation with prosecutors, and they know enough to be able to make good recommendations to their clients regarding what the best deal they can get would be.

Hat did attack me on a message board and then run away.

Nothing I despise more than someone saying the earth is flat and then running off when you try to show them a globe.

Thinking about this... Obviously the NCAA wouldn't be able to retrieve records from "Burner Phones". But they could get phone records from recruits. If that is why they have yet to clear Selby, and they were looking at more than just him, then why have Harris, Golden, and McRae all been cleared? Is that something the NCAA could come back on?

I just have a feeling there's a whole lot more going on with Selby than just the phones.

I have a very close friend who just went into defense work this week. I'll be sure to mention that to him.
