The counter argument is Tom o'brien is very good at finding undervalued players and coaches them up pretty well. I guess it says even more about his coaching abilities. The man went to something like 9 or 10 bowl games in a row at Boston College, and has the Pack looking good the last couple of years. He's never been a good recruiter, but always finds talent (matt ryan, hassleback, keuchly, Amerson, Russell Wilson, Nate Irving)

You realize I was just making a bold assessment based on a small part of the article. You know, to call out your poster who did the same thing, on an even less significant part of the article. It was a joke, obviously your gonna score at least 6 or 7 points...another joke.

To the poster that is a Tennessee football fan, and a UNC basketball fan. Show some allegiance man. I guarantee it wont be harder than being a state fan.

We have an o line that went has over 100 career starts under their belt and was one of the best statistically on defending the qb against sacks and we actually faced teams with good defenses....whats your point?

Also the best secondary in the ACC is like Vandy getting their new uniforms.....doesn't matter when you are playing real teams.

You can take this to your pack insider board and plaster it everywhere.....UT by 17

I really hate to be this guy, but... Those accolades were against this schedule.

Hint: Our only common opponent from last year was Cincy... The team that put 44 on you... Look up the stats from that game. You REALLy think we won't score more than 3/21 on you?

Hint 2: That best secondary in the ACC will be going up against what has been billed as the best wide receiver trio in the SEC-- possibly the nation. Along with a potential NFL early draftee at QB.

I'm looking forward to the game. You may possibly be correct. I doubt it. I'll be here to eat my crow Aug 31/Sep 1 if I am wrong.

Pack insider is probably equivalent to your Scout board. Packpride (scout) is our main forum. Ill let them know though so they wont waste their time watching the game. Good luck in the National Championship game though. It's going to be an honor to get smacked around by the SEC elite. Thanks.

Since you probably really want to know though, I truthfully think we're gonna pull it out in a close one. Low scoring. 17-14 or something like that. Offenses usually struggle more in the earlier part of the season, and I know you're tired of hearing about it but I think our D is above average.

Not gonna make excuses about the Cincy game, but that was probalby the low point of our teams morale/health over the last two seasons. Teams come out flat some times, you guys did lose to Kentucky, and I'm sure you were the better team.

You're welcome... It will be good to be win another game, but slapping around a lower tier ACC team won't be overly satisfying.


Above Average D in ACC, is a lower 100 FBS D.

We lost 10-7. We didn't get destroyed. Losing to Cincy in that manner indicates you were nowhere near the better team.

And the game is yet to be played. Obviously.

I was responding to your particular post and putting it in context. I am not trying to be an SEC snark, but the fact remains... It is much easier to be rated top 20 in any avenue of the game playing that schedule than the grueling schedule we faced last year.

The facts are the facts. Liberty put up 21 points on that great secondary. Central Michigan put up 24. Cincy put up 44.

We played Cincy. You cannot blame us for having a bit of confidence, based on that common opponent, when we also field more talent this year than last.

I never inferred you guys can't win. Don't pull the pouty martyr card. It's unbecoming.

I appreciate it.....and if you think you are only holding us to 14 points take into account that we managed to score 7, 6, and 3 on LSU, ALA, and SC respectively...terrible scores but with Matt Simms at QB and no Justin Hunter what do you expect. Now throw in a healthy Bray, Hunter, Rogers, Rivera, and Patterson...not sure where you think 14 will be the limit. Matt Simms couldn't find a TE on film much less on the field. Rivera will have a huge game in my opinion.

We have at least 17 before the first half is over.

Fair points, but you have to see the connection between the game you mentioned. They were all in the first half of the season. You cant look at the games/scores and not see that we progressed. I'm just hoping we dont start the season off slowly like last year, or I may have to turn it off at halftime.

But as has already been pointed out... Being absolutely blown out by a team that we absolutely blew out... "Slow start" and "progression" only goes so far.

Let's just say: Both teams are fielding a entering new year and are undefeated going into the game. You are a NCSU fan and have high hopes. We are UT fans and walk in confident.

That's what I said in my very first post. I think its going to be close. Some of you guys think the same, some dont. I was just trying to get a reason behind the 180 degree turnaround optimism for this season. Seems like you have some good reasons to be so confident, hope you're wrong.

Yea I was joking when I said I dont want to turn it off at halftime. Mostly because I'll be at the game, but also because I dont have enough sense to turn off something that is ruining my night if state is involved.

Imagine. You're last SEC championship was in 2003? It takes you 25 years from then to win another, or really be in contention. Are you still a football school?

Thats what we have going on in Basketball right now. We have the tradition, just nothing more in the last quarter century or so. Kind of depressing
