It's been awhile but I don't recall the offense ever being the issue back when Dobbs was around. Seems like they mostly got it done we just couldn't stop the other team.

10 points in a loss to Alabama, 21 points in a loss to SC, 20 points in an OT win against AP State. All of those were his senior season.

There were plenty of games during his time here

See; that’s a great question because I genuinely dont know. He was really inaccurate with the ball and made bad decisions throwing it, which is why he never saw the field in ‘13 or ‘14 until we absolutely needed to throw him in. Dobbs shined when running the ball. Do I think that Heup could’ve helped some? Yes, but idk if it would’ve been Hooker’s level

Yeah, it was just an interesting thought. Ultimately we can't know but Josh Heupel has more QBs in the NFL than... <checks notes> Mike Debord.

Best thing to happens is GMAC earns the job at some point in 2025.
Starts most of 2025, 2026, 2027 and Brandon is ready as a RS So in 2028

The weakness of all of those teams was the offensive line. Dobbs masked that at times, but against elite competition like Alabama, he really couldn’t. No one could.

The games from that era that eat me up the most is either 2015 Oklahoma or 2015 Alabama. In the latter, we had it won because of our defense, but Alabama was allowed to hold with impunity the entire game. On the last drive there were three or four plays with obvious holds that went uncalled and they were allowed to score the winning points. It was blatant.

If Aguilar doesn’t work out (let’s pray he does) then I would bet big money that GMac takes over at some point. I don’t think Merk would keep the job long right now.

I like betting and I’d honestly bet that the kid will never be a full time starter here. By the team he gains the weight needed to actually hold up in the SEC, Faizon will be equally ready.

Curtis has a lot of hype and offense puts up points. Will be interesting to see how it works out. His team plays nobody though. They don’t play any of the top mid tn public teams like Cohn, Ravenwood or Oakland, nor do they play BA, Ensworth, MBA, Baylor, Mccallie, Father Ryan, Lipscomb, CPA, or even FRA so he’s not being tested by much skill, speed and size on defense.

He looks really good throwing the ball. But he has bird like ankles. Kid would get hurt if he started much this year imo. Of course it wouldn’t be the first time we played someone physically not ready.

😂 Good yet hilarious comparison.

I think long term he’s going to be a good player for us or someone else but he’s going to need some development. This isn’t a normal smallish kid that you put on a nutrition program and he’s ready to go as a freshman. Reworked Oline, and a kid that’s physically tiny with true freshman slow decision making and you have the recipe for a career ending injury.

They play Ensworth this year I do believe. Should be a good test for him if his line can remotely protect
