'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

Idk tho, Nico was really crisp with his throwing motion and had an insane release speed. All the issues with nico was mental stuff
Nico was a little more raw. He had only been playing football a few years prior to coming to UT. He was super talented but not as polished. Most praised the huge upside he had. His numbers were really good but Faizon's are even better.

"[Faizon] Brandon is more advanced than Hendon Hooker at the same stage and the pair share several traits." Wrote ESPN's Tom Luginbill. "He is also much more accurate than Joe Milton. While he lacks Iamaleava's polish at this stage, Brandon throws an exceptional deep ball, which is a requirement in this scheme that loves to attack vertically."

lacks polish?
Does he really need sunscreen

Right, but nico’s arm was ridiculous though. It’s a shame he couldn’t put it together and even more of a shame of how it all ended

I mean, how many wide open deep balls did Nico miss against Alabama? How many against Florida (plus drops)? He had wide open WRs against Arkansas that he didn’t miss because he never saw them (including a wide open WR in the end zone on the final play).

We can’t put that on Halzle’s ability as an OC. They were schemed open. Furthermore, I don’t think Halzle is really in charge of the offense. That’s Heupel.

Truth is, it’s been a combination of inaccurate QBs (and with sometimes poor field vision) and SEC defenses that have adjusted to Heupel’s offense. We need to see a counter-punch. I think they were working on that in the spring with pistol elements and tighter formations at times. My guess is that bringing Littrell in was a move towards helping to refine (not change) the offense.

It’ll be interesting to see how they look with Aguilar this year. He reputedly hits the deep ball. Hitting our share of those opens up everything else.
I think the SEC figured out the dumbed-down version of the offense Heupel was forced to run to make up for QB limitations. I do not think they have figured out Heupel in the general sense, simply because Heupel isn't static and unchanging. Heupel doesn't simply have a good offense, he understands how to build good offenses and clearly adapts to what he has. QBs can't find/hit the open guy? Fine. I'll throw just enough to open the box and run it down your throat. The moment he's got a guy more like HH or other quality QBs he's had in the past, he'll kill you with that.

Yet one QB is in the NFL while UCLA traded their probable starter for Nico.

The offense looked like butt in the spring as it has the past 2 years. Let me guess - that’s because Merk and GMAC are young?

Or maybe fans are dumb enough to just keep watching our offense get flanked when every defensive coordinator with P5 talent give us fits, and ultimately blame it on the QB?
The upside or downside of the nico JA trade is yet To be seen.

Rewatch the Alabama game then post about our
Offense being figured out.

The difference between Nico and this kid is Nico never got anywhere close to completing 77% of his passes in high school. Nor did he sniff a state championship or Gatorade POTY. Nico was a 7 on 7 God, this kid is unstoppable in pads.
I’m still a huge Nico fan
Unfortunately his dad is an idiot…

Brandon is probably a legit 4.55 guy at 230 lbs.
Smart. Stronger arm the Hendon has RIGHT NOW.

Grimsley plays some good teams this season.
Big test against 3A state Champion West Charlotte and then they play Varina out of Richmond Virginia.

Do I think he’s better than Nico at this point in their career. Hard to say…

But i promise you fans will blame Faizon Brandon if he doesn’t play lights out when he gets his chance. And on God it’s the offense and the current coaches itself that’s the problem. Nobody is going to get me to believe otherwise.

The sooner we can get rid of Halzle and Heupel can bring in a real OC to merge his system with the other coaches- the better off Tennessee will be.

We've had two QB's in a row with very strong arms but relatively poor accuracy. Give me a guy with high accuracy.
Both were accurate just couldnt process and didnt have the touch necessary, or the processing ability. Brandon seems to have a lot of potential though as I feel like he is going to be Hendon 2.0

Neither one of those guys were the least bit accurate beyond 10-15 yards. They both missed a lot of wide open guys.

Heupel is running the offense.

But hear me out…what if we had a QB who hit the wide open deep shots created by this inept offense?

Screw Nico and his loser ass dad.
Also..lmao about the offense....this offense had WRs running wide open all year but Nico couldn't read defenses and in the slim times when he did...he would overthrow. Would have rather had Milton last year with that defense.

So you are still a fan of the guy that screwed Heupel over? Whatever I guess. I wish nothing but the worst for Nico. I don’t want to see him get injured but I hope his career tanks.

I’m not wishing bad for him as he’s not a VOL so I don’t really care. However, it will be entertaining if he plays poorly at UCLA.
