'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

Definitely not a project, seeing as he put up 1700 receiving yards his senior year. Was also a top 70 player.

He probably just sucks.
Was a development project. High school ain’t college. Exceptional athletes can exell without SEC level skills.
Hence why he has been awol , hasn’t developed the skills necessary.

CJH can definitely get a couple of good shots open a game, but he also struggles with putting together consistent drives that move the chains methodically (unless its a team we can dominate at the LOS).

Early season that’s a viable excuse, but at this point if on your deep shots your QB is regularly missing and your WRs are regularly dropping them when not missed, you can’t run an offense dependent on them. You have to scheme and call plays to what your players are doing well
We are going to have to keep throwing and recievers are going to have to start catching. We can’t play one dimensional in the playoffs. Sure we need to keep running too but we can’t quit trying to go downfield when the quarterback can throw it, if a reciever isn’t getting it done bring another in. Good grief give Matthews a few easy go routes and let him go. We got to quit coddling folks, throw them in the water and sink or swim. Go through these recievers until somebody steps up. I remember one thing about Ol Johnny Majors he would sit your arse down if you wasn’t getting it done and I saw him make players better by fear of losing reps. Our entire team needs to get the sense of urgency to play smart and sound and with the focus and intensity necessary. Make our Receivers smell the smelling sauce before they take the field and catch the dadgum ball! Let’s Go Vols!

Nobody is coddling anything especially when the Oline is giving up a 5 sack game with constant pressure…no passing attack will thrive in that.

What in God's name are you talking about?

She me folks want to speculate on players, some on message board warriors.

What was the value add to the team or the player in your take on Leacock. Did not see an overboard positive post requiring correction.

Unless you have access to total injury history, or coaches jumping him for effort, why put that stuff out there?

It's weird to respond to things that people didn't say, take umbrage, then chide them for those unsaid things.

But some people are just weird. Take you, for instance...

That was one game, so you want us to shut down the deep passing threat. Like I have said you have to be able to do everything at least good to play for championships. We just can’t stop trying, it’s not like we don’t have a quarterback capable of going deep. We still have to take some shots to keep it honest that’s all I am saying. What kind of pressure do you think were going to get if we don’t throw. This next game is the perfect game to work work on our weaknesses in my opinion. GBO

It’s called opinions. Why do you think people cannot offer up their own opinions on a message board? I mean who do you think you are lol

The OL didn't play great, but at least 2 of those sacks came from Nico holding the ball too long. He's gotta learn to chuck it out bounds near a receiver if the play isn't there and he can't escape the pressure. There's nothing wrong with an incomplete pass if you don't have someone open and can't escape the pocket.

Where did I say stop throwing? I’m just saying shorten the field and make it easier on the WRs and QBs. High percentage plays that move the receivers horizontally across the middle of the field that can be stacked with other routes that stress zone responsibilities or force man coverage to run across the field.

Fly routes are great, but our team is not hitting them at an efficient rate at all. They still need to be called, especially against favorable matchups, but we can’t be reliant on it. We have to develop ways to sustain drives that aren’t just inside run, option, hitch, screen, fly.

As far as benching guys? I wish, if even for a quarter, but CJH has shown he absolutely won’t bench a veteran player unless they’re hurt so it’ll be Bru/White/Thornton or Brazzell the rest of the way.

The post he was responding to wasn’t even an opinion. I just pointed out that Hyatt played his first 2 years and Leacock didn’t. That’s just a fact. Then he got upset and started speaking in Google Translate.

Dude is bizarre.

You mean his junior year.

But there’s a difference: Hyatt got on the field his first 2 years. His freshman year, he caught a long TD against Alabama. His sophomore year, Heupel tried to get him in the starting rotation, but he had the dropsies. He played some though. Had a long catch against Kentucky in that wild game in Lexington. Then he broke out as a junior.

Leacock has done nothing. Hasn’t gotten in the field in 2 years. Not as a starter, not as next man up. His first 2 years are nothing like Hyatt’s.

That said, I hope he stays and develops. We need WRs. But it’s fair to speculate that he might leave.
Yea I meant his final year here. He didn't do a whole lot at all before then. Nothing saying Leacock couldn't burst on to the scene next year. We shall see, just not ready to give up on guys who haven't got a shot yet.

Agree. Hope he sticks around and develops. I liked his high school film. And unlike Hyatt, he was injured his freshman year, so that stunted his development. He could still break out.

By bench I mean take them out a few series or plays then put them back in. Not bench for good, try to bring some incentive. I never said pass deep every play, I simply said we have to take them shots 3-4-5 times a game just to keep it honest. Everyone that has been here for any time at all knows I am a big believer in the running game, but I know in this day the more we’ll rounded you are the better. We have to add dimensions to our running game and continue to try and develop a more consistent vertical passing game. Just my thoughts. GBO

Has anyone checked on Faizon Brandon lately?
He’s been to Tennessee multiple times this fall and has not been anywhere else on visits. Working hard as a peer recruiter and been pretty effective imo. He’s not one that says a lot but he is excited about his commitment. As far as his season goes, 2200 yards through the air with 26 TDs to 1 INT. They are 12-0 and have a big one tonight.

Yeah they play against Charlotte Catholic.
A good NC team, but lost to David Sanders and Providence Day as well as Crest HS.

They’re good but Grimsley should beat them.

Now NEXT Week?? They play the winner of Hough or Mallard Creek. Whole different level of competition and Grimsley coach is going to wish he played Faizon in the 2nd half more throughout the season.
