'26 NC OT Jabian Shabazz (Tennessee commit)

Just watch the games. Run blocking was great. Pass blocking was not. Not sure what to make of your group think suggestion. I can observe and think for myself.
Coach will know how good a job the coaches did with the available resources. The stats are the stats, but it is possible that CJH believes our guy got more out of the room than anybody on the short list in his top desk drawer. That is always a driver in staff evaluations.

Campbell was playing on the knees of a 80 year-old. He was awful in pass protection last year as a result. Dayne Davis was a former walk-on better suited at Guard. Heard was out of shape and coming off injury. Spraggins was a solid run blocker, but lacked the feet, quickness, or length of a good pass blocker. None of the 4 starters we lost were drafted for a reason.

I think Elarbee got what he could out of the talent he had. The knock on Elarbee has always been his recruiting, but that seems to have either been corrected or worked around starting with the 2024 cycle.

We will start to see the fruits of better OL recruiting, but it’s such a developmental position that it takes a few years. I do think this year, we will see varying contributions from Warren, Perry, Satterwhite, and Sanders. Next year, we can probably add some others like J. Heard and Ginther to that list of contributors.

This 2026 OL class is shaping up to be the best of the bunch.

Its taken an NIL focus also.

Hope it is not a bad omen that Google Maps won’t let me use i40 to calculate Winston Salem travel time. Won’t be broke forever. Wish Columbia was not only 170 miles.

Hwat? Where are you right now?

Wouldn't you go through Johnson City to get to Winston?

Forcing you that way because of the repair at TN NC line. But it is right off 40. That detour up 26 and down 81 is the pits.
I would say you're in the minority there. Many people I talk too, including my own belief is that drive through Waynesville via 40 is brutal.

26 is safer, IMO. You can always take JC to Boone via 321. Then to Winston that way.

Its 3 hours from JC.

Or just go thru Greeneville. 🤷

Here's a little nugget while we wait for 6PM to roll around.

-Hulking offensive line prospect with Grade A features on a frame that’s pushing 6-foot-6.
-Spent junior campaign positioned primarily as a left tackle in a two-point stance and was at his best in pass protection.
-Frequently in control of his feet and has displayed the ability to make some much-needed adjustments while in reverse.
-Bends more at the waist, which puts a premium on his upper half as he has to strike his targets with precision when asked to down/drive block.
-Will find a mean streak, but can be a little too reactive at times for a player of his stature.
-Likely to need a few semesters to improve technique and learn how to unlock his lower body.
-Projects as a swing tackle at the Power Four level with a rather promising profile given the length (34+ inch arms) and hoops background.
