Having 2 finals sweeps on your resume damages your legacy. Sorry but thats a fact. Lebron James is a mt rushmore player. Just not the GOAT. This series permanently eliminated him from that convo. There is no shame in that.

Lebron played the best four teams during the playoffs while carrying a terrible team. He led them to the Finals. If Lebron had pulled a Harden and completely disappeared while getting swept, then yes, I think he tarnishes his legacy. But how can you criticize a dude for dropping 28/9/9 against a team with four legitimate stars (and maybe the deepest bench too)???

I don't think Lebron is the GOAT, but how can you punish Lebron for losing against these really good teams while playing out of his mind? What more do you want him to do?

So calling him one of the greatest to ever play is punishing him? Lol.

Lets stop with the terrible team. Its nothing but more excuses. This so called terrible team came extremely close to evening the finals 2-2. If not for a handful of plays, that would have happened. Even in game 4, the game was close at the half. How many shots did LBJ take? Why did he basically disappear? Not only that, there were many times that little Steph Curry was guarding him and LBJ didnt do jack. He is the best player on his team. He is the guy that is supposed to set the tone and elevate his team. He didnt.

Like I have said, LBJ gets more excuses than any superstar I have ever seen. So basically LBJ gets all the credit when the team he is on wins, but none of the blame when they lose.

How is that fair? How does losing a series to one of the best teams of all time do that when you're looking at a career as a whole? Maybe if he played bad, but he played extremely well.

Terrible might be hyperbole, but you can't tell me that this year was as good as the last 3 years. Yes, the role players stepped up in moments, but given the context, it was a very weak team for getting to the Finals.

Yes, the games were close, but Cleveland lost so it's moot to play the "what-if" game. Cleveland was only there because one man named Lebron. Aside from Jeff Green and kinda Kevin Love, I don't think anyone on the Cavs played to the level expected from them consistently.

I don't think it's an excuse to give Lebron credit for playing well against a very good team. I don't even disagree with the general point(s) you're trying to make.

Exactly my point. Even though the Warriors were huge favorites, this Cavs team still could have easily won 2 games. If they would have won game 1, the whole series could have been different.

So the only reason game 1 was close is because of LBJ? That's hilarious. You are just another LBJ excuse maker.

What's hilarious is you trying to push the narrative that these teams were somehow evenly matched, when the Warriors were the biggest favorites since the Shaq-Kobe Lakers swept the Nets in 2002.

Did you watch Game 1 at all?

*Peyton Manning loses in the divisional round like 10 times with a bad team around him*
BOT: He's still better than Brady! He lost, but look how bad his team was!

*LeBron carries an even worse team even deeper in the playoffs, losing to an even better opponent*
BOT: Well, losing is proof he's not good enough. No excuses for the abjectly terrible team around him.

Yes cause getting double and triple teamed is so much easier than teams not being able to double you because of the great players on your team. Dumbass

7 foot guard who can’t get double teamed due to Curry & Thompson being sharp shooters makes it 10x easier for you to score.

To me, he’s still trying to justify his actions for taking the easy way out for a ring.

There’s nothing “hard” about what he’s doing.

I think I see what he's trying to say, he's just not articulating his point well. It's hard to stand out as much as somebody on a bad team. As long as Curry, Klay, and KD play together, none of them are winning MVP. So I agree with him in that respect, but the way he's saying it sounds petty.

Again, I am not saying he hasnt had a great career, he absolutely has. The fact is LBJ has 2 sweeps in the finals on his resume. Name me another NBA legend that is in the convo for GOAT that has the same. We know MJ and Kareem doesnt. Neither does Kobe or Shaq.

I will ask again, what is wrong with being considered the second or third greatest player to ever play? How is that disrespectful?

Actually Kareem got swept by Philly in 83 and by Detroit in 89.

Here's where I think finals and rings can get blown out of portion in a way.

Kobe got swept 4 different times in the playoffs. 98 vs the Jazz, 99 vs the Spurs, 2011, vs Dallas, and 2013 vs the Spurs.

Shaq got swept 6 different times in the playoffs. 94 by the Pacers, 95, by the Rockets(in the finals), 96 by the Bulls, 98 by the Jazz, 99 by the Spurs, and 07 by the Bulls.

Would Lebron have been better off not getting to the finals every year and getting swept sooner?

It is easier to pile up stats when you construct a team around you to do that. That is all KD was saying. When you control the ball 90% of the time your stats will reflect that.
