Korver has made twice as many shots as Parsons from mid-range. :whistling:

But you are right, the sample sizes aren't that big. You can look at the prior 2 seasons, which makes the sample sizes a lot more significant and Korver is still destroying him. This probably isn't what you expected. It's not what I expected, but I know that we have lyin' eyes.

What are their numbers this year only from 10-16 and 16-22 attempts wise, just curious. Cause I'm about to be more baffled by something else if they really are that low.

Edit: the reason I ask is Korver has 107 attempts inside 3 to Parsons 318. So evidently Parsons gets to the rack a lot.

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a butch?

As far as the lying eyes comment, I know Parsons is better at every other aspect of basketball. Korver is better at what he specializes in, color me shocked.

As far as Lebron being jealous of the amount of shots Kevin Durant gets... gtfo. Back to back champion is jealous of a guy who has never won a championship because of his stats. And Lebron wonders why people hate him... selfish p.o.s.

I don't know if I'd put it quite in those terms, but I did laugh a little when I heard that story last week. He had all the shots he wanted in Cleveland. LOL

Welcome back though, haven't seen you around here in a while. Pacers are having a hell of a season.

I'd take Korver on defense (though he's a 2 and Parsons is a 3). Korver is also a more efficient distributor. Parsons gets slightly more assists, but he does play on a higher tempo team with more weapons.

Shooting Data 10-16 and 16-22

Parsons last 2 years:
13/23, 12/30, .565, and .400
10/27, 33/92, .370, .359

Korver last 2 years:
12/17, 35/76, .706. .461
12/30, 67/141, .400, .475

BTW, the Rockets are putting advanced stats into practice, and they have been vocal about that. One thing I noticed that they do is avoid mid-range jumpers. They either shoot 3s or get to the hoop. Almost nothing in between. Shoot open mid-range shots to keep the D honest, but other than that it's typically not smart basketball. See how long it takes the rest of the league to catch on.

Haven't the Rockets always been pretty much on the cutting edge when it come to using the advanced metrics to evaluate players? I seem to recall reading articles about it several years ago.

I don't know how long they've been doing it, but yeah they were early adopters. I think that's why they wanted Battier so badly.

I absolutely hate when a guy shoots a long 2, most wasteful shot in basketball. When I played I went to the rim, or shot a 3, the occasional 10-15 foot pull up just because it's an easy shot to get after 4-5 drives.

Catch on to being wildly inconsistent?

What do you mean? That the Rockets have off shooting nights and die by the 3? If that's what you mean, I think that's a false perception. Yeah, they have off shooting nights, but so do teams that shoot mid-range jumpers. I'm not sure that the Rockets are any more inconsistent than other teams.

I was busting your head cause you said, "how long before other teams catch on" like the Rockets have been dominant. They just had a 73pt half followed by a 19 pt half. They'll beat a couple good teams then lose some stupid game. They are way to inconsistent to make a real playoff push, even with 2 of the top 15 players in the league.

Well, I looked it up for kicks, cause I have heard the media blame 3-point shooting for their losses.

In 15 losses they have had 9 games where they made 10+ 3s shooting over 40% from 3. Kinda surprised me.

Harden and Howard are not playing like top 15 players right now. But including Jones and Parsons, they have 4 top 35ish guys. Harden's assist numbers are down and he doesn't seem to be giving his full effort on D.

I just meant from watching them they seem inconsistent, effort, shooting, d, everything really. It's almost like they win a few get a big head, relax and then get punched in the mouth.

The 3 shooting in loses is surprising. I take Harden over everybody except maybe 4 or 5 players. Dwight is maddening sometimes but he's still top 2-3 centers. Parsons I agree with, Jones is solid I wouldn't put him that high. Either way they are pretty stacked.

Yeah, I haven't seen much of Jones, but his numbers are great. Efficient scorer, good rebounder, and great defender. He gets almost as many blocks as fouls, which is just crazy.

I mean he's a really solid player, I just need to a little before that jump.

So since you watched your first full Thunder game this year, and I know it's just one game and they are without Russ. But (numbers aside) do you still think this years team is still even with last years? Cause last years team without Russ and KD turning the ball over 11 times, gets smashed. IMO
