I didn't make the award, its just how they award it.

It's different for sports than it is for business.

Your comparison is apples to oranges.

I know that the award is always given to a player on a winning team. I'm asking about who you think is deserving, not the press.

It is my understanding that people who vote believe the best player, by virtue of being the most valuable, will make his team a winning team, no matter who is around him.

I didn't realize anybody knowingly disqualifies the best player because of his bad teammates. You're saying this is how you would vote or you're saying this is how the press votes? I know how the press votes.

Why would it be different in sports and business, if you're casting an MVP ballot? I'm not asking how the press votes. I'm asking how you think.

But to him it proves his point. SMH

No it doesn't. I'm just trying to work through a conversation and gauge how you guys think. You're difficult like a child. You attribute arguments to me that I'm not making and you call my posts dumb. Just ignore if you can't be constructive, homey.

I wouldn't vote for the best player. This year my vote would be for Durant.

Says the guy they just kept bumping the same question over and over. We told you over and over MVP and best player is not the same thing. I still think (hope) that you were trolling, cause the most casual fan understands MVP voting. I would hire the guy that makes more money, but I'm not voting for a loser to be MVP. Business and basketball are not the same thing.

Ok I'll play the business game but do it fair, not the great exaggeration that you did. Say wins are a 100k a piece. The OKC is worth 650k with KD, they are worth 400k without him. The Twolves are worth 400k with Love and 250k without him. Who is more valuable? That's being generous to Love btw as the win difference wasn't that big in the other year that we talked about.

Clearly Durant. Why are you asking me? I think I have made myself clear that the guy who generates the most total value is MVP and in your scenario, Durant generates the most value.

Player X takes his team from $200K to $400K

Player Y takes his team from $450K to $600K

And you are saying player Y is more valuable. That's what I don't get. To me it's the guy who creates the biggest increase, no matter what else is going on.

I wouldn't vote for the best player. This year my vote would be for Durant.

If you don't create the most value, how are you the best player that year?

Lebron is my #1 pick. He is the best talent. But Durant has been the best player this year...or the most valuable. I see it as one and the same.

Well I didn't say 450-600k I said 400-650, so yes player y is more valuable. Also I said 250-400 not 200-400 atleast quote me correctly.

You keep ignoring the fact that without Love in the past, that their win difference isn't that far apart. That tells you he simply isn't as valuable as you think he is.

I'm not quoting you. I'm asking about a different hypothetical.

I'm not talking about Love and Durant. I'm talking about what makes an MVP.

Really?

You said I would pick player y, so I assumed you were referring to the numbers I posted. I didn't realize you were just straight up saying I would do something that I didn't say I would do. But ok.

The guy that is the most valuable to his team, good god it's a simple concept.

So you would pick player X? Because the whole argument since last night has been about me picking player X and you fighting me on it.

Nvm I'm done. This might be the dumbest discussion I've ever had on here.

You should take a breath and re-read my posts before responding because you clearly have been confused about my position since the beginning. No wonder it's been such a dumb conversation.

I said last night that I would pick the hypothetical guy that made 600k more. As far as basketball goes if your team sucks obviously you are not that valuable.

The last thing I want to do is reread your posts. They have been really reaching in trying to figure our thinking for MVP out. The original conversation was Kevin Love for MVP, he's not in consideration because he doesn't even elevate his team to playoff status.

Edit: if you want to use sales as a comparison, make it comparable.

So then you DO PICK PLAYER Y?!!!

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I never said Love should have been MVP. We were talking about Love and started discussing whether or not MVP can come from a losing team.

I think I have a good example that will make it more comparable in your eyes:

Michael Jordan won the scoring title in 1987. His team won 40 games. Pretend we know exactly how many games they win without him, and that that number is 15.

Magic Johnson won MVP leading his team to 65 wins. Pretend we know they would have won 45 games without him.

So Jordan made his team 25 games better

And Magic made his team 20 games better

I know how the AP votes. They give it to the guy from the winning team.

But in this omniscient hypothetical, you would vote for Jordan or Magic?
