So, TN is already successfully verifying that information, and translating that information onto the DLs and IDs they are ALREADY ISSUING would result in a third form?

help me understand your argument.

Again, I counter your pearl-clutching prediction with a non-pearl-clutching prediction. I think the Republic would survive if states started voluntarily verifying identities on the IDs/Licenses they issue, and putting the verified information on the IDs/Licenses they issue.

No, I didn't ignore it. I just think it's irrelevant since it's almost impossible to know if someone is an illegal that registered to vote.

If I had my druthers I would like for every state to scrub their voter rolls and require everyone to reregister in person with proof of citizenship.

No. There was a really big OR that you did your usual convenient whistling right by. You either get a real ID version or you don’t. Now you want to create a third rank of DL.

But again hey look forward to getting in line with EVERYONE this time that has to go do it all again. I am sooooo looking forward to those posts.

Ok it doesn’t impact me at all I’m retired. I’m looking forward to standing in line and reading on here how completely screwed up the process is!! 😂

The funny thing is that I've not advocated for new IDs. It would be a bit of information added to all newly issued IDs. If anyone didn't want to go through the hassle, they could take an alternate form to register to vote.

Screwed up process to register? Why would that have to be screwed up? Show up to your county registrars office with an ID, proof of residency, proof of citizenship and 5 minutes latter you're registered to vote. Why does it have to be harder than that?

I don't like that idea at all, nobody should be forced to deal with the incompetents at the DMV anymore than they have to.

(Those alternate forms would be the same needed at the DMV, so it'd have to be shown to someone, somewhere, at some time. Seems kind of a wash to me to give people choices on where, how and when they do it.)

speaking of, apparently I am too ugly to get my passport renewed.

went to the post office and had my picture taken months ago. rejected due to image quality, but they said I was eligible for online renewal, just snap a picture with my phone to upload. 3 (1 android, 2 apple) phones, 2 different alternate camera apps, and about two dozen photos later they are still rejecting my pictures due to "image quality". files meet the file size requirement, you can see individual hairs on my head, so it isn't blurry. only option left is I am too ugly to be let out of the country.

Right now I actually go outside DFW if I have to do an in person renewal as the wait time is weeks for an appt. Yes it’s TX and we’re horrible and I agree on this case.

But now you’re gonna disqualify EVERYONE from doing an online renewal and forced to do an in person reveal. Yeah…that’s gonna be awesome and I’m looking forward to reading your bitching posts on it 😂

I just don't think the DMV should have anything to do with questions of citizenship, in my experience you have to be a certified moron to work there. When I went to have the Veteran tag put on my DL I had the moron working the desk and her moron supervisor tell me my DD214 wasn't a DD214. It took a state trooper to tell them they were idiots before they would relent.

I understand that your brain is starting to atrophy now that you're retired so I understand your cornfusion. The county registrars office where you register to vote is not the DMV where you get a drivers license. That may explain some of the problems you have had.

Yeah, you're right. It's not like there are SEVERAL months in between elections so it would be a mad rush to get registered in such a short period of time.

If somebody doesn’t have a passport what do you think you’re gonna use exactly? A quick google tells me about half of US citizens hold a passport. And that is apparently a very significant increase in the count from the not too distant pass.
