I love that trump can propose this, and somehow people dont get that this is completely contra to the constitution and do nothing about it.

Just because congress CAN pass laws doesn't mean they should.

This should galvanize both the right and left into support for neutering the federal government.
As with most things, there's a needed balance here. The framers of the constitution gave the Federal government access to such control and oversight for a reason--for a very specific fear that few here seem to be considering.

Nothing can be more evident than that an exclusive power of regulating elections for the national government, in the hands of the State legislatures, would leave the existence of the Union entirely at their mercy.

Where when it is show above and in the constitution that Congress can make change to elections nationally. If it was contrary wouldn't not be in there as an option?? Therefore needing to be challenged by Scotus.

We don't live in a world where thing aught to be a certain way...we live in a world where things are a certain way...so are they violating the Constitution with this act?? If no then the moral opinions are not important to the discussion.
And as I have heard you say numerous time if you disagree with way it is there are avenues to change it legally...which seems to be the case here.

I'm not disputing the fact that the proposals are most likely constitutional.

Yes, but the best course of action would be to lesson the power of the feral government. Not increase it.

Ok. When has increasing the power of the federal government been a good thing long term?
You're the one making the claim that it ALWAYS has. Don't try to put the anti-burden of your claims on me. You would need to list all of the increases, explain how each was a bad thing, and found each claimed negative consequence in something objectively bad. That's why I made the joke about unsupported blanket statements (by making an unsupported blanket statement).

If you ever work through the above requirement, you'd then need to make the case for why, having always led to negative results, it will always lead to negative results in the future.

Like I said, I prefer a balanced take on this that would weigh each decision with nuance. I can recognize the concerns that the founders had and see a potential need for Federal oversight and regulations that limit how our elections are performed. I'll reserve my opinion on this matter until hearing exactly what is being proposed.

(Edited to add that you are also yet to show that this would be an increase in gov't size/power. The federal government was given this regulation power in the Constitution, started regulating elections via legislation in 1842, and have been doing so ever since.)

In 1842, Congress passed its first legislation to regulate House and Senate elections by establishing the district system for House elections. Act of June 25, 1842, ch. 47, § 2, 5 Stat. 491. Later legislation provided that Representatives be elected by districts composed of a compact and contiguous territory and containing as nearly as practicable an equal number of inhabitants. See, e.g., Act of Aug. 8, 1911, ch. 5, 37 Stat. 13.

We absolutely should let a delusional narcissist like Donald Trump and his merry band of idiots control elections. What can possibly go wrong with that?

Seriously, can folks not see what he’s doing? As usual, he’s just throwing crap at the wall to see if anybody buys it. Later today, he’ll throw out three more bright shiny objects to try to distract everyone from his series of screwups and idiot statements.

You presented yourself in a very rational, non-emotional light. Your logic is indisputable. You are sure to sway many to your viewpoint. Kudos and keep up the good work.

He may or may not have dumped himself during a presser in tge oval office a few days ago.

You can audibly hear a fart, but the real meat of the clip are the reactions of the two sycophants behind him.

I got a good chuckle out of it.

"Shart of the deal"
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS SPLATTER"
"there will immediately be a congressional hearing so Hillary can confess as to how Biden crapped in Donald's diaper"

Just stating my opinion of Trump. Nothing new, that’s well known and that will never change. Wouldn’t waste my time trying to sway his leg humpers. They’re a lost cause.
