Best thing to do for anyone is just get out of Hoover as fast as you can with all your players healthy. It obviously means very little. Florida in 2017 got blown out by Arkansas 16-0 and won the title a month later. Vanderbilt got smashed in 2014 as well and also won the title.

I think it depends on the mentality of the team. Some just try to be bad at Hoover, weighing the advantages of it, and all.

You are correct. I also think how much it “matters” depends on where a program is in its growth. This was Tennessee’s breakthrough year. Doing well in Hoover mattered this season to Tennessee. Not as much to State because they’ve ”been there.” In future years, Tennessee can go two and out in Hoover and no one will care.

Guess what team they avoided in Omaha too. Sucks we stunk it up. I really think if we beat Virgina in game one, we are national champions right now

So beating Va meant no one else had a chance against us?? As Jerry Reed said "when you're hot YOUR HOT! When you're not you're not"! Several teams (MS St most hot) were. - - WE WERE NOT!

Too much Hoopla surrounding Tennessee making it to Omaha; they forgot why they were there. State didn't.

I disagree. If you go back and you study there are very few teams that win it the first year they get there. I think this year was overwhelming in a lot of ways for the team but I do not think it was a lack of trying as you are suggesting or forgetting why they were there. Just remember. They were never supposed to be hosting regional , winning a super regional or much less in Omaha. Did Omaha overwhelm them? Maybe but it was not a lack of trying or want.

I think this kills OM every year. They’ve won Hoover 2x I think and have played for several other championships then flame out before Omaha. 2005 & 2006 played for Hoover lost in Supers, 2018 won Hoover, national seed, lost in regionals, 2014 go 1-2 and make their one Omaha appearance.

Same could be said for LSU. Sure Maineri made it 5x and that can’t be discounted but he only won 1 title and made the finals 1 other time while winning Hoover 6x in his career.

Corbin won it in 2007, lost in regionals, 2012 played for title lost in regionals, 2013 played for title lost in Super, 2014 goes 1-2 wins NCAAT, 2021 goes 1-2 plays for NCAAT. 2015 & 2019 are really the only two times it worked out for Vandy where they excelled in Hoover and the NCAAT.

I seriously doubt anyone will have a better 1-2 punch again like Vandy had this year so it makes me even happier they didn’t win it… they had no offense all year thank goodness.

Not to discredit Vandy or MSU, but NC State was impressive. They took out Arkansas and to me were the team to beat in their side of the bracket at the CWS.
Unfortunately they were thin when Vandy beat them and then had to forfeit the next game. Otherwise I think they are in the finals and might have won it all. Their closer was as good or maybe better than anyone there. I don't remember seeing him give up a run in the Supers or the CWS.

When the chips were down we folded. Always next year.

Come on friend. That statement is not based on fact and kind of disrespects one of the best teams to ever play baseball at Tennessee. This team didn't "fold." It got beaten by a couple of excellent baseball teams. Big difference.

Not every good team can win the Natty. And not every team that fails to do so, "folds."

All about pitching and hot bats. You need both when you need both. If that makes sense....
