Who are the remaining candidates after Kippy Brown and Spence are off the list?
And what has happened to Locksley I haven't heard his name in awhile?

I think Locksey interviewed for the WV head coaching job. Marrone, Offensive Coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. I doubt he leaves an OC job in the NFL for an OC job in college. The other is Adkins the OL coach at Tennessee.

I'm sure there is more.

no no.. there's not. Just because we've interviewed the guy from Michigan and Fulmer has said he has a notebook full of names (at one time rumored to be around 15), now that Spence and Brown have backed out, the list is magically down to just Adkins. And TT the chest bump man is going to get added. Doesn't matter that Cignetti is actually on the list too. It's all a lie.

also I still believe Hatcher's name is on the list... or at least was. It's just a question of interest and how Fulmer thought he would fit.

Has any of these guys confirmed they they've been contacted or is this all speculation? I think if Hatcher had been half of this board would have passed out with sheer delight.

No, as far as I know #3 and #4 are the only ones that actually have interviews or we know that they have one scheduled. The others are just names that have been bounced around here.

GAVol paid me $5 to put Hatcher's name on that list.

Oh yeah? I thought he was a TT fan, my mistake. :)

Doug Marrone doesn't call plays in New Orleans. Doug Marrone has not held an OC job before this one. Therefore, Doug Marrone has no experience calling plays, he just does what Sean Payton tells him to do.

Don't like Marrone as our OC. Never have, never will.

If that's true, than the people that didn't want TT shouldn't want this guy, either.

The way this has gone and as well as the staff has kept their contacts quiet... I'd say there's a better than 50% chance that we haven't heard the name of the eventual hire.

To the astonishment of most CPF haters, CPF has searched broadly though quietly and hasn't been bullied by TT or Kippy Brown.

I don't know if it's 100% true. Sean Payton might have thrown him a bone somewhere or you know something crazy happen and he had to step in for a game or two at the US Coast Guard but from this:

1992 Cortland State (N.Y.) Tight Ends Coach
1993 U.S. Coast Guard Academy Offensive Line Coach
1994 Northeastern Offensive Line Coach
1995 Georgia Tech Director of Football Operations
1996 Georgia Tech Tight Ends Coach
1997-99 Georgia Tech Offensive Line Coach
2000 Georgia Offensive Line
2001 Tennessee Tight Ends/Tackles Coach
2002-05 New York Jets Offensive Line Coach
2006- New Orleans Saints Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach

Nothing tells me "play calling experience".

say what you will, but Marrone has moved up rather quickly, so he must be doing something right.

There are a lot worse guys out there than Marrone, and I dont think we would be doing bad if we got him. The Saints have a pretty dynamic offense.

A line coach just screams run the football though. Don't know how many on here would react to that. I wouldn't have a problem with it assuming we can get one nasty line.

Locksley just signed an extension with Illinois reportedly worth 500K a year. Hard to believe Illi would pay an Coordinator that much more than UT.

I think what we have now is the inverse of what the Falcons had last year. The Falcons were run blocking beasts last year but couldnt protect Vick. I guess the Vols run it OK sometimes but not against the 2 teams we really needed to run against.

Fulmer has got plenty of connections..
he probably has so many OC's on his mind that we dont even know.
i just hope he doesnt just pick one just to hurry up and get it over with..
i'd rather him take his time and make and good solid choice

Due to his status as an NCAA stool pigeon, Fulmer probably has fewer "connections" than any coach at a major program. There are a whole slew of people who would never consider working for him.

Don't agree, they will go where the money and the opportunities are.
