When you know what it's about, the plane explanation makes sense. Awake on my airplane awake on my airplane my skin is bare my skin is theirs. Could you take my picture, cuz I won't remember (he's drunk)

The Hey dad part is obvious but deserves noting. His father tried to discourage him from pursuing music saying that he would never make any money in it. Pretty cool to stick it to Pops in your most famous song.

Also a neat oddity, Richard's (lead singer) brother is the cop from Terminator II and on was on X files.
