HAHAHA! That is a good one. Yep, the rich alumni donors at USC, U of Miami, Kentucky, never pay athletes under the table or set-up family members with sweet businesses or homes. Top recruits in football and basketball have always chosen their school for strictly amateur reasons.

I wouldn’t be surprised for Athletic Departments to seek out general sponsors who commit to providing a basic endorsement package for all players. Not as the only option, but they can let players know what the minimum endorsement income would be to sign with that school regardless of their marketability.

Exactly. It is working for MLB and baseball. All the major professional leagues should have that setup. Athletes could either go pro right after HS or not, their choice. Get money in the minor leagues of your sport by no money for college competition.

the Lady Vols already have their own BRAND name another P5 women basketball program that does...we need to have "Lady Vols" on the uniforms

"Expanding the value of their personal brands." I mean, I get it, I get that this is how America is now, and really a lot of culture beyond America, but just ... the internet has taken us nowhere good. Oh well.

Also, I'm totally in agreement with the people pointing out only a handful of players (think - Tim Tebow types, etc.) will find real profit. The rest are going to discover that practically no one cares about an athlete's endorsement if they aren't representatives of the university, aka the _real_ brand that everyone's looking to trade off for their personal gain.

The first money will come from their social media. Bueckers has 830,000 followers on Instagram. Compare that to Candace Parker's 790,000 That many followers is worth between 10 to 20 thousands of dollars per sponsored photo. She will in a short time be making more money than any women's basketball player.

Truth it’s a shame players like Candace didn’t have this to enhance their brand because Candace was women’s college basketball before she was even in women’s college basketball 🤣

Paige definitely has major skills and the whole mojo to succeed. coming out of high school there were talking about Candace EVOLUTIONIZING the game. If social media was for candace how it is now I can’t imagine how that would have worked in her favor 🤩
However, Paige should cash in as much as possible. All schools will get up to par but a select few will focus on their women’s bball teams so that might give a recruiting advantage to certain programs for awhile.

This whole NIL program is going to require a lot of work if it is going to be tailored for each player. It won't take long to find out if UT is going to be a leader in the field or is going to go the minimal path. I hope they staff strongly with creative minds because it's going to be an important competitive advantage for places that do it well. Great players will seek great places to play that have next level NIL programs.

A great NIL advise/mentor program will be an edge in recruiting.
