Working in North Georgia, I have to put up with a bunch of homer kool-aid drinking Dawg fans.

After reminding them of the 51-33 & 35-14 butt kickings rendered by the Vols the last two years, they generally retort with, "Wait til you get a dose of Moreno." or "Ya'll haven't seen Moreno yet," or "Moreno wasn't in the game plan against the Vols."

I woke up at 6:00 this morning, and had the Vols on my mind(due to the O&W game), so I watched the whole 2007 UGA game, and enjoyed watching Foster beat the Dawgs down.

But what I saw completely disproved what the Georgia gobblers are saying.
Myth: Tennessee played UGA without Moreno being in their game plan, and 2008 will be the first time the Vols will really have to face him.

Fact#1: Moreno had more than double (13) the carries of any other UGA back that day (6).

Fact#2: Moreno lead the team in receiving yards at the half.

Fact#3: Thomas Brown (the starter) didn't play one snap in the second half, and Moreno was featured the whole second half.

Fact#4: Moreno had averaged 90 yards a game in their 3 previous SEC games against SC (104yards), Bama, & Ole Miss. So to say he wasn't already in UGA's game plan is downright silly.

Fact#5: Tennessee shut his butt down on 13 carries for 30 yards (2.3 a carry).

Fact#6: Georgia Tech shut his butt down too (17 carries for 45 yards- 2.6 per carry, 0 TDs)

Fact#7: He only carried the ball 9 times against an awful Hawaii team.
Not trying to take away from Moreno's accomplishments, and he probably is the most dynamic back in the SEC East this year.

However, Tennessee has already shut him down once, and they have shut down good backs in the past. (McFadden, Jones, etc...)

Moreno is a great player, but he isn't superman.

Fact #7 is irrelevant.

Thomas Brown was a senior and they wanted him to leave on a good note so he got the majority of the carries and also because UGA was stomping them.

Just use #1 -#6 and they don't have any arguements

Fact #3 is a little convenient since there aren't too many Running Backs getting "featured" prominently when the score is 28-0 at the half.

Georgia fans are blow hards. When they are beating you, you can't get them to shut up. When you are beating them, they are no where to be found. I have family in Georgia and I know how they are. They are all into the Moreno love fest now. They say he is the next Herschel Walker and he will win them a national championship just like Herschel did. He might be the next Herschel and he might help win them a national championship but I have my doubts. They also said that about Danny Ware and most of us know how he turned out. Some of us probably don't know who Danny Ware is, and there is a reason for that!

BTW, the TN/UGA 2006 score was 51-33.

I'd say all of it is moot anyway... they just got whooped... plain and simple. If they didnt use Moreno as an excuse, they'd find another. Football is a team game. Moreno is good, but not that good enough evidently. What year was it that Robert Edwards got hurt after gouging us pretty good in the first half? For a good 10 years, I heard the what-if scenarios from Dawg fans from that game and to be quite honost, that game holds a much better argument that the '07 contest but it doesnt matter. The fact is, he didnt play and they lost. Boo Hoo.

Since Georgia Fans love what if's, and they do, I will give them a what if. What if Tebow was full speed last year when Florida played Georgia and could run the ball like he did against everyone else. Answer: Georgia would have got spanked just like they do almost every year when they meet in Jacksonville for the cocktail party.

Yeah it amazes me how UT and UGA had very similar seasons in 07, but they got so much more love from the media. They beat a good Fla. team, and put a beat down on Auburn, but people didn't acknowledge that we put a beat down on UGA and McFadden, which beat the eventual National champs.

I got an answer for that.... Mark Schlabach.

He is the stereotype of a smarmy UGA fan.

It's going to be good to watch their National Title hopes come crashing down when we visit South Neyland in the fall.

I hope they enjoy the hoopla of last season because the media is setting them up for a huge downfall, pie in face, etc....

I've argued this topic with a couple of Georgia fans on another board since the day after that game. Especially after Moreno started dominating. Not sure how you can argue it and say you even watched the game.

The Only Fact: Every year one SEC team falls victim to the preseason hype and chokes their way to a mediocre season. And boys and girls, I'm so excited that it is finally UGA's turn!

It seems to me that over the past couple of years, the UGA folk have turned from respectable college football fans into whiny, what-if, delusional idiots whose rants and raves contain little solid basis of fact.

I love how those fools think they have a chance at a national championship this year. That tends to be pretty difficult with a slightly above average quarterback who still screws up more than he should and an entirely unimpressive defense. Since when did having one great player lead to grandiose thoughts of steamrolling through the hardest division in college football? They remind me alot of our 2005 team, but we had more talent on paper...

Boy that LSU was really hyped-up last year.

all u guys must kno the worst uga fans that are out there.

Any team that has the potential to win the SEC championship has a very good shot at competing for the NC. I see no reason that Georgia should not have those expectations, based on the way that they finished the season. Think we wouldn't be expressing the same expectations?

I see no reason why Tennessee should not have those expectations the way they finished the season and the way we drilled Georgia, a team that finished the season so well. With UT returning close to the same amount of starters I do not see how some of the analyst are picking UGA preseason #1 when UT is not even in the top 20 in some polls. I think that is crazy!

I didn't say Vol fans shouldn't have those expectations. Every major program should have such expectations. But a lot of writers and outside fans still have memories of the blow-outs we suffered last season, despite our good finish. Honestly, it's hard for a neutral observer to overlook those performances and project us as a top 5 team.
