Myth #1 Busted

Questions for 5150 and Ksush to answer.

1)Who was offensive coordinator for Pete Carroll at USC?
2)How many Heisman trophy winners came from USC while that certain coach was coordinator?
3)How many NC did they win?
4)What was the average scoring offense?
5)How many former and current D1 head coaches worked under Carroll?
6)How many former and current D1 head coaches worked under Fulmer?

see, that's exactly my problem. people are already excusing kiffin's future losses. it's exactly the kind of "good enough" attitude we deperately needed to get rid of in the fulmer camp. and, yet, here it is again. if the guy doesn't give us a winning season (this shouldn't be THAT hard to do....and i must note that my personal opinion is that he should win at least 8 to stay), he must be fired. no excuses. otherwise we settle for mediocrity once again. and this time, it will be difficult to find a capable coach to take over.

By your silly logic, Saban should have been fired after his first year at Bama. And Rodriquez and Petrino should have been fired after last season. Your pimp idol Fulmer screwed the pooch and left us with a litter of misfits. It won't be fixed easily and without pain. But you need to take a strong dose of realism and recognize the fact that any coach we hired would have a difficult road to recovery.

Cutcliffe,Chavis,Fulmer = championship, that is what Kiffin and company, will be judged against, and i do think they will do good, and thanks to the Lady in Orange for calming people down :)

ok ok ....alot of yall are complaining of a poor class...well this is how i see it....

CLK is in essence an unproven commodity as a head coach and this whole coaching team as a unit. Top recruits dont want to risk their career on that and many of them dont know exactly what theyre getting no matter how good the recruiters are at explaining it. No matter what the coach the top qbs that dream of going to the nfl aren't going to risk possibility at millions of dollars should he flop, thats alot to ask a kid to take a chance on considering hes never seen what this man can do on the field. You have to look at it from their perspective. Im behind CLK 100% and wish him the best but i cant hold this class against him...he did surprisingly well getting some guys and we lost other guys i thought we had locked up, but overall my point is its hard to sell a new soda in the heart of atlanta if you get what im saying

5150. Look at the depth of our previous team. Look at how many 5 and 4 stars we already have. LK went to recruit for his needs, and not just anyone so he could boost pre season rank. Yes I think Creer is a good HB. Yes I think Coleman will be a good QB. Yes we have an all american TE that will get used in a pro style, yes we have the classic UT WR. Yes we had the number 4 defense in the country, and probably just had the best defensive recruiting class in the country. No one will pass deep on us for 4 years. While other schools probably told each recruit you will be a star here, Kiffin told each possible recruit you can earn your spot. (isnt that what got Fulmer in a mess with Clawson/Ainge and Crompton/Coleman/Stephens/Berry/G Gun (god who didnt we have at QB) Kiffin isnt concerned about his job, and I highly doubt the other level 10 coaches we have aquired are either, after all... most left good situations to help come rebuild the T, so intent is unquestionable.. And here we have you. Not even giving this thing a chance.. So tell me what would work Coach 5150?

You must realy know your football man. Stay at home next year. I will have fun, people like you gave true UT fans free seating upgrades all year last year.

Is that an East Ridge uni in your avatar?

thank GOD! a voide of reason.

"Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. You're wrong. You're wrong. You're wroooooooooong.
:good!:

Any "top recruit" is nothing more than that until he gets on the field of play and makes himself a star player. I can't remember how many "top recruits" have come blazing into Knoxville in a burst of flame only to leave cold embers after one or two seasons. Signing Day is no indication of how the season will play out. Anybody remember '05?

Well Jackson signed with us and he is a 5 star I believe. That will move our class up a few notches. Does this make you happy 5150?

"Kiffin is a great recruiter......look what he did at USC"

Since LK was hired, this "falsehood" has been propagated in attempt to help justify his hiring. Now I'm sure that the excuses will be flowing in an attempt to put a smiley face on what happened today, but when Mississippi State out recruits you, you're just not that good. LK was never a "great recruiter" as was evident today. I received alot of grief when I said as much when he was first hired. Unfortunately, there are many more falsehoods about LK's abilities that will evident this spring, and (more importantly) this fall.

Sad day to say the least. And for all that want to bring PF into this, please spare us.........LK owns this class. Congrats LK.

no he didn't own this class, but by the time he finally put together the entire staff there wasn't much time left for everyone to recurit.

another EPIC FAIL thread

Say hello to Janzen Jackson moron.

Lol Kiffin comes in here with 2 MONTHS and a 5-7 record to deal with....and he pulls a top 15 class. We took guys from right out of under the noses of Florida, Bama, and LSU.

Yeah he's a bum. LOL

Exactly. How many highly-ranked Fulmer classes flamed out, or managed to turn a pre-season Top 5, or 10, or 25 ranking into a complete dud by season's end? Not to mention the bowl record.

Fulmer and his staff could recruit with the best of them. No argument there. The main issue was coaching.

You have to be able to recruit and coach in order to build a consistent winner, especially in the SEC. Given the fact that he only had two months to work with, I'm impressed with what Kiffin and staff have done to this point. And we'll know for sure if we made the right hire by the end of the coming season. And remember, if this staff does succeed on the field, they will have done with "Fulmer's recruits" what Fulmer could not.

Go Vols.

i assure you, however, that saban is a substantially better coach.

By your standards Saban should have been fired after his 1st year at Bamma. Oooops, there goes your last shred of credibility.

I make it a personal choice not to post in threads I consider epic failures. You might want to consider doing the same. :hi:

I would change "could not" to did not. I think ultimately a sense of complacency was the downfall of the whole UT football staff. I think CPF knows how to coach-and did for several years. He just rested on his laurels for too long after winning a National Championship.

I'm glad I don't give a rats ass about recruiting or I'd be all up in here just getting dumber.
