no, you, just like every other idiot with glazed-over eyes on this board, will say it's fulmer's fault. you'll say he didn't bring in the talent, or that he didn't foster it, or some other lame form of excuse, but i guarantee, every loss kiffin has next year, and i assure you there will be many, will be laid on fulmer's shoulders.
in the infamous words of one of my favorite comedians..........no, you, just like every other idiot with glazed-over eyes on this board, will say it's fulmer's fault. you'll say he didn't bring in the talent, or that he didn't foster it, or some other lame form of excuse, but i guarantee, every loss kiffin has next year, and i assure you there will be many, will be laid on fulmer's shoulders.
I don't understand this thing.
Nobody has proclaimed Kiffin the next coming of Gen. Neyland. Nobody has said he is going to win it all. Generally people are saying he has done most things right to this point.
He has hired a solid staff, ksush and the fab 5's opinions notwithstanding, turned in a very respectable recruiting effort under indescribably tough conditions, changed the paradigm of no expectations and made clear to the players who is in charge of the football program.
I don't understand the downside. Granted, Kiffin's record at Oakland, where he had no prayer of winning more games, looks bad as does O's at Ole Miss, where they were equally woeful. They don't have the track record to proclaim outright greatness, but there is certainly room for optimism and no reason whatsoever to assume failure. I would think worst case would be even keel.
Stubborn, laurels whichever one works for you. But you're right on the money with that one.I would change "could not" to did not. I think ultimately a sense of complacency was the downfall of the whole UT football staff. I think CPF knows how to coach-and did for several years. He just rested on his laurels for too long after winning a National Championship.
FYP. based on a lot of the pining by those that are so adamantly against Kiffin, and have all the sudden thru the roof expectations for this staff, i'd say what we have here is a strong case of "what's good for the goose, is good for the gander".I think it is because Lane Kiffin doesn't spell his name P-h-i-l F-u-l-u-m-e-r.
There are not many coaches out there that could have pulled this kind of recruiting day with UT coming off a 5-7 season and completing their staff within 3 weeks of signing day. End of story.
and to see the morons bark about this class and say fulmer could do better.....they just don't get it.There are not many coaches out there that could have pulled this kind of recruiting day with UT coming off a 5-7 season and completing their staff within 3 weeks of signing day. End of story.
:thumbsup:I don't understand this thing.

"Kiffin is a great recruiter......look what he did at USC"
Since LK was hired, this "falsehood" has been propagated in attempt to help justify his hiring. Now I'm sure that the excuses will be flowing in an attempt to put a smiley face on what happened today, but when Mississippi State out recruits you, you're just not that good. LK was never a "great recruiter" as was evident today. I received alot of grief when I said as much when he was first hired. Unfortunately, there are many more falsehoods about LK's abilities that will evident this spring, and (more importantly) this fall.
Sad day to say the least. And for all that want to bring PF into this, please spare us.........LK owns this class. Congrats LK.
Lets take a look at Kiffins to do list over the past 3 months.
1) Assume control of a program that was coming off its 2nd losing season in 4 years
2) Interview/recruit and hire an entirely new coaching staff (including new S&C coach)
3) Glad hand the boosters/Alumi
4) Be around for the birth of his child
5) Attempt to win over current players to his system
6) Do tons of interviews for newspapers/radio and TV to generate buzz about UT
7) Restructure the entire recruiting process
8) Evaluate the current roster
9) Evaluate the recruits the former staff had recruited/offered
10 Oh.....and still actually recruit a top 15 or 25 (depending on where you get your info) class.
Yeah, hes a total slacker. He should have had time to fix that pesky global warming thing too in his spare time. Give me a freaking break. Ive never used the ignore function but you are getting very close to being deemed worthy. How about giving the staff more than 3-4 weeks to get things rolling chicken little. FFS.
Good post. Not to mention:
1) He took three recruits from two of the top programs in the SEC(LSU & Florida).
2) He insulted CUM. :clapping::clapping:Although it is not against the rules to contact a player while visiting another school. I think it is rather classless. Kind of like the paranoid girlfriend that has to call her boyfriend every second.
3) He stirs the pot with his interviews, and brought publicity to the university. Oh, the fact that he pissed off Florida & LSU will make me lose sleep tonight
4) OH Geez he had a bad record in the NFL, of course that means he won't be a good college coach....OH wait...Then Saban & Spurrier must be terrible college coaches(check out their record with the Dolphins and the Redskins, respectively).
5) He has a beautiful family.
Yeah 5150 ,your right CLK is a real loser:cray::cray: However, If CLK is a loser, can I be one also?.
I guess I really don't understand somone like 5150. In today's world, with the economy sucking eggs, people getting laid-off, and losing their homes. I think people want to escape by getting on here and be able to be optimistic about something. Why someone would get pleasure out of raining on their parade is beyond me. :hi:
GO CLK & The VOLS!!!

:thumbsup:I guess Kiffin could have padded his recruiting rankings by adding about 10 more mediocre players? From what I've read, he came in late in the game and signed 20 top notch players. This includes stealing 2 from Florida and a 5* from LSU. Tennessee is still on the short list for the top 3 unsigned players remaining. Brown and Charles didn't even have UT on their radar until Kiffin arrived. I'm excited to see what Kiffin can do with an ENTIRE recruiting season to work with.
