Myth #1 Busted

Logic is something a lot of people obviously don't have Jake.

If Kiffin can't coach or loses games like we have the last 8 years, then I'll be the first one to say he SUX. Untill then, lets wait and see.

no, you, just like every other idiot with glazed-over eyes on this board, will say it's fulmer's fault. you'll say he didn't bring in the talent, or that he didn't foster it, or some other lame form of excuse, but i guarantee, every loss kiffin has next year, and i assure you there will be many, will be laid on fulmer's shoulders.

Lets take a look at Kiffins to do list over the past 3 months.

1) Assume control of a program that was coming off its 2nd losing season in 4 years
2) Interview/recruit and hire an entirely new coaching staff (including new S&C coach)
3) Glad hand the boosters/Alumi
4) Be around for the birth of his child
5) Attempt to win over current players to his system
6) Do tons of interviews for newspapers/radio and TV to generate buzz about UT
7) Restructure the entire recruiting process
8) Evaluate the current roster
9) Evaluate the recruits the former staff had recruited/offered
10 Oh.....and still actually recruit a top 15 or 25 (depending on where you get your info) class.

Yeah, hes a total slacker. He should have had time to fix that pesky global warming thing too in his spare time. Give me a freaking break. Ive never used the ignore function but you are getting very close to being deemed worthy. How about giving the staff more than 3-4 weeks to get things rolling chicken little. FFS.

Ding ding ding ding, we have a winner! Exactly.

He knows he hasn't proved anything while being a Head Coach thats why he has the supporting cast. Best in Country. I bet you aren't even a volunteer fan, some bama nerd or florida fagot posing. If you are then you would have realized that Fulmer's way off doing things was great during that time, but unfortunately times have changed. Cutcliffe and Chavis were Fulmers saving graces. Sanders called one good game in NC, but besides that UT didn't do crap without Cutcliffe.

i love all the accusations! because a realy ut fan couldn't possibly want THE BEST (proven winners) for his team and not some whiny 32 year old kid whose only head coaching stint produced a win only a third of the time!!!!

Im sure there will be losses next year too. And Kiffin will bear the brunt of the critizism, but Fulmer SHOULD take some of the blame as well, for encouraging and fostering an atmosphere were playing "just good enough" was acceptable. Lets not forget some of this guys have been in Fulmers system for 3-4 years. Its hard to change someones way of thinking overnight. Just saying, Kiffin will still be playing with inherited talent the next few years. How about we let him get his pieces in place before we turn Neyland stadium into a cow pasture and call the whole thing a failure?

Is that right? And you know this how???? Ksush STFU and spout your hormone induced rants somewhere else

okay, seriously, you are being offensive. if you want to talk football, attack my argument with facts, not with personal sexist insults. i don't have to tell you that it's against the board rules.

"Kiffin is a great recruiter......look what he did at USC"

Since LK was hired, this "falsehood" has been propagated in attempt to help justify his hiring. Now I'm sure that the excuses will be flowing in an attempt to put a smiley face on what happened today, but when Mississippi State out recruits you, you're just not that good. LK was never a "great recruiter" as was evident today. I received alot of grief when I said as much when he was first hired. Unfortunately, there are many more falsehoods about LK's abilities that will evident this spring, and (more importantly) this fall.

Sad day to say the least. And for all that want to bring PF into this, please spare us.........LK owns this class. Congrats LK.

Fulmer and his roving band of ass kissers left town months ago. Damn shame you missed the bus.

see, that's exactly my problem. people are already excusing kiffin's future losses. it's exactly the kind of "good enough" attitude we deperately needed to get rid of in the fulmer camp. and, yet, here it is again. if the guy doesn't give us a winning season (this shouldn't be THAT hard to do....and i must note that my personal opinion is that he should win at least 8 to stay), he must be fired. no excuses. otherwise we settle for mediocrity once again. and this time, it will be difficult to find a capable coach to take over.

As opposed to Saban's perfect stint in the NFL. Why don't we look at Spurrier's Super Bowl wins too.

First, MSU did not 'out recruit' us, they out numbered us. More recruits = higher ranking. There might be 2 recruits that signed with them that we'd even want. Most people realize that we were behind the 8-ball this year in recruiting. We took only the players we wanted...we could have had a couple more 4 stars and placed better in the ever-important recruiting rankings, but we passed on them.

It's fairly apparent you have no idea what you're talking about.

We beat out Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and Michigan (among others) for Nu'Keese Richardson.

Beat VT, Bama, Oklahoma, Clemson, Michigan (and others) for Jerod Askew.

Bama, TTU, and Oklahoma for Eric Gordon

Auburn and Ohio State for James Green

Bama, Auburn, UF, UGA, LSU, Notre Dame, Mich, and OSU for Darren Myles

Bama, Florida, GT, Michigan for Marsalis Teague

Nysher Oliver had an offer from Penn State and Boston College, among others

Greg King had offers from Bama, TTU, Miami, Auburn, Arkansas, etc

Rodgers from Auburn, Bama, TTU

We weren't exactly taking table scraps. We took who we wanted, went for some big fish that no one expected us to land, and came away with a couple. Kiffin has met or exceeded any expectations to date.

You clearly know nothing about football. Thank God you have no power over this program.

Maybe you would re-read my post. I said FULMER fostered that kind of attitude, and that its hard to change someone way of thinking overnight. No where did I say that the current staff is/should or will accept this kind of attitude. My person opinion is that they wont, based off how competitive key members of the staff are and the statements they have made about "no one out working us". No one knows what kind of product Kiffin will produce yet, but give some of us the courtesy of allowing us to be excited and hopeful about what the future of UT football holds

How often do the big names pan out anyway. Utah did pretty well this year and when do you see them in the top 10 of recruiting? It is about who finds the talent within and develops it to the highest level. I am happy given the circumstances of our off season. Let's not sink the ship just yet.

Exactly. I remember past seasons when the posters on this board (myself included) were positively drooling on Signing Day but were moaning and groaning at the end of the season. I also remember a 1998 team that nobody gave a snowball's chance in Miami to do anything relevant. What happens on the field has less to do with the number of stars by the player's name ( or in their eyes) and more to do with work ethic on the field and in the classsroom and the ability to be a team player. Just my opinion. :peace2:

So you're saying this recruiting class was exactly what the "master-mind" Kiffin had in mind? RRRRRight. Okay.:eek:k:

Maybe one day this fall you will finally pull your head out of the sand.

And if you think Kiffin has exceeded expectations, you must have extremely low expectations.

Where was Fulmer's recruiting class ranked this time last year? I think Kiffin just one-upped him!!

Kiffin himself said this class was below their standards. This staff was together less than three weeks and brought a better class than CPF last year.
