Mychal Rivera's Sister Missing

Rivera, 33, vanished from Lake Piru in Ventura County on Wednesday evening. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office said search efforts will resume "at first light" and called it a possible drowning.
Rivera went to the lake Wednesday afternoon and rented a boat with her young child. Both were seen going out on the lake together, Sheriff's Capt. Eric Buschow said at a news conference.
About three hours after they left the dock, another boater discovered a boat drifting with the child asleep onboard. Authorities were notified and they began searching from air and with a dive team.

Yeah, I don't see any way this isn't a drowning.

It's great that the child is safe, but yikes...regarding the mother, it sounds like a tragic accident or potential foul play. Hoping for the best, nonetheless.

Gang, my sister is missing today too. She went missing in the Knoxville area around 5 pm yesterday. If you see a red prius parked at a service station, etc, please let me know. Praying for the Rivera family too! My sister was coming into East Knoxville she could be anywhere from Greenville, Strawberry plains, that area.

Praying for her to be found, and the other lady.

It definitely sounds like foul play in this scenario. There's no way a mother would just leave her child floating alone in a boat. I really hope it turns out for the best, but it doesn't sound good.

He had on his life vest and hers was in the pontoon...you’re right, something’s off.

I thought in an article I read this morning it said that she and her son were swimming in the lake and she was presumed drowned as she didn't have a life jacket but he did. Who knows though.

She rented a pontoon boat. He was found asleep in it.

According to authorities, her son told them that she jumped in the water and didn't come back to the surface. If anyone else was there, I would assume a child that is almost 5 would tell them. It sounds like an tragic drowning to me.

One article did state that; it said that he got back on the pontoon but she didn't. He was found with a life jacket on, but an adult life jacket was found on the boat.

That poor child! What a horrible experience for him to go through! What in god's name would've kept her from resurfacing after jumping in though? It's not like she would've been anchored down or anything. You would think her body would have resurfaced, dead or alive.

Looking at her Twitter profile, her last post was a picture of her and what I presume to be her son, saying "just the two of us"

In the comments people are suggesting it could refer to lyrics from an Eminem song where a mom drowns leaving her son behind. If that's the case, have to think possible suicide :(

If so, she is/was a cruel, selfish bitch to allow her son to witness that.
