Let me start by saying I have not watched the Heisman since the G.O.A.T. left. Hurd must be the featured back, meaning 75% of the runs minimum. Problem, Butch had to promise Kamara a much expanded role to return. Solution, Kamara still gets 25% of touches and splits time at slot helping not only us out greatly in a position of need, but also himself if successful, improves his stock tremendously. I believe if Dobbs is more consistent then they can not key on Hurd and with Dobbs running ability even tougher. So no more then two losses, minimum 1500 yards and he has this wrapped up. GBO!

I didn't know they still awarded it. It has only slightly less real meaning than a Nobel peace prize

If he has a similar year, they'll have to make up last year's snub to McCaffrey

2,000 rushing
600 receiving
1,000 kick return yards
Scored TD rushing, receiving, on kickoffs, on a punt return and had 2 passing TDs.

It was a travesty

It's usually going to be the best player on the best team. That could be Hurd...but so many things would have to go right for that to happen

After Peyton got robbed of the Heisman Trophy in 1997 which he deserved, that's when I stopped caring about whoever wins it.

It was a travesty! And to the question at hand, McCaffrey is way more of the offense for Stanford than Hurd has to be for UT. Hurd has no chance, but he will sure show his worth in the pros. He's going to be good for a long time in the league!

I would prefer more team oriented awards, like an SEC C'ship, playoff birth, and maybe even a Natty if we find some luck.

Anything else would be icing on the cake, but i couldnt care less about any other trophies, especially that sham of a popularity contest.

Well I was disappointed when Shuler lost out but was still on board until Manning was robbed of it😠 The Heisman no longer has any credibility in my opinion. If I was a Vol and actually won it, I would decline the award as a tribute to former Vols that were looked over.

nah...all you have to do is be average all year long. Have one great game on a huge stage and of course make sure ESPN thinks it would up their ratings to push for you.

Or play for Notre Dame~ Signed Paul Hornung (best 5-6 team in the country)

Or Miami~ Add Steve Walsh

I would never support UT putting a Heisman campaign together for any of our kids. I couldn't tell you who's won one since Woodson.

Like so much in college athletics, E$PN has ruined much of it....

a) Paying coaches millions due to TV contracts which ultimately equates to high ticket prices for non-students and then puts college/universities continuously in the "rock/hard place" scenario when considering firing a coach for under-performance or keeping the coach via an extension b/c you don't want someone else to "buy" him

b) The Hypeman Trophy - totally and completely trashed. Standford kid should have won it hands-down last year.

c) Conference championships anyone? Anyone? They used to mean something - now? Not so much. Its all about "Who's In".

d) Bowl games - there are so many stupid bowl games its embarrassing. Schools go to them to get the........money b/c ESPN promotes it and pays for it. The schools need to money to pay the coaches (go back to point a).

e) Coach tenure - fans know how much these coaches make and are seriously delusional about what it takes (time) to truly turn a program around. Fans are incredibly impatient in the vast majority of college football circles. Long gone are the days when most fans appreciated a good, clean, honest program. To h3ll with that, they just want to win. One reason? B/c of the money that is in college sports.

F). Oh, and your cable bill. Wonder how much E$PN is costing you each month....?

Check this out. This from 2 years ago.

Jalen won't sniff anywhere 75% of the carries this year. He didn't last year.

Look at the numbers. We had 3 primary runners last year....1. Jalen 2. Josh and 3. Alvin. Those 3 carried the ball 530 times....Jalen got 277 of those carries, or just under 53% of them. And, by all accounts, it was a wildly successful combination as apportioned since we ran for the most yards as a team that we have since 1951. There's no reason to think, given our style of offense, that Dobbs doesn't get his 10-12 carries and AK his 8-9 per game again this year, perhaps even a couple more IMHO.

If Jalen is gonna win the Heisman this year, he's gonna have to do it with roughly the same amount of carries he had last year, which was about 21-22, or just over 52% of all our primary rushes. He's gotta create more splash plays so he can greatly increase a fairly pedestrian 4.6 yards per carry from last year IMO.

The Nobel Peace Prize does actually mean something to people that can hold a meaningful, thought provoking conversation. Since you don't fall in that category, I understand your sentiment.

Nobel peace prize is absolutely useless. Has become a political award. For crying out loud, Yassar Arafat, one of the greatest terrorists of our time won the damn thing about 20 years ago and Obama was given the "award" right after entering office, before he'd ever done anything, and solely because of the things the committee said they "thought he'd do" going forward. And as we now know, he's done anything but promote peace in his two terms in office.

McCaffrey will have a tough year in 2016. About 60% of Stanford's 2015 season had passed where defenses were totally focused on stopping Hogan their Heisman QB candidate, at least the candidate they had promoted preseason and early in that same year. It will be more difficult for young McCaffrey to escape anyone's notice this year.
