My rant in favor of Adidas uniforms

Luckily we have an official color hex value we can look up and compare to. It’s #FF8200 and Nike got that right.
bull hockey. Look at any UT football uniform going back 100 years. The Nike Orange is different. I don't care if they retroactively made a color code to make Nike's shade of orange right. True UT orange is yellowish. Nike orange isn't. We look like diet Texas under Nike. F that. Let's be UT again. I remember an Alabama fan talking about hating UT pumpkin gut orange. Let's bring that back

Did you miss the part about paying a tax? Yes money matters. But when the money is close that's when the team with better gear wins out. By signing with Adidas we'll have to overpay to get recruits. Because if the money is close they'll never pick us over a Nike school.
I’m gonna stop because there’s no way you’re serious. Not taking your rage bait.

Lots of kids are currently viewing Nike as "old school" and Adidas as retro cool.

They didn’t just make up this color once we switched to Nike, lol.

So you like ugly? That color and those uniforms were ugly. Nike's version was better. If throw-up color orange is the real Tennessee orange then maybe it's time to move past that ugly color.

Hopefully they don’t bring back the script Tennessee on the road jerseys . I will say that the 2004 Condredge Holloway jerseys vs UNLV were the best thing that we had under adidas. Hopefully our design team doesn’t change anything other than the # font.
Yep the script on the uniforms was vile that era of uniform sucked

I know. But that’s a new thing.

I am less hostile towards the grey than the black. And recently, it’s been black that they put on the shoes. Just make them orange and white. They’re not throwing black on Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, etc. shoes.

Its very simple. All things equal this will hurt us in recruiting because most people (including athletes) prefer Nike to all other athletic brands. That's why we're mad. Cause we know it'll hurt us in the long run regardless of what short term monetary gains the athletic department makes off this deal with an inferior brand.
It's a good thing all things aren't equal. Beyond that, can you find a recent example of where a 4 or 5 star college football player made his final decision of where to play based on which company sponsors the team's apparel? I know athletes can be superficial and make bad decisions, but usually there are smarter people around them to steer them in the right direction.

This isn't true anymore. Adidas is back and strong like before.

I prefer Nike and have loved their apparel selection over the past several years, especially the Nike baseball hats and jerseys. That’s why I’m disappointed in this deal as a fan. But looking at it from an AD perspective, I would have signed this deal and not given it a second thought. Screw the fans on this one. I’m trying to find a way to pay my athletes and Adidas has said they are a willing NIL partner. Nike was never going to do that. It’s better to be a flagship program for Adidas than to be just another brand with Nike. It gives us the necessary funding to keep up with this crazy landscape we are in and I appreciate Danny White making the best decision for the athletic programs.
It's still going to be PMS 151 C . Dooley messed it up and made it to yellow but the orange will be the same color on Adidas.

Yeah I think that’s the biggest thing this time around with Adidas the university is retaining creative control and I saw someone mentioned the university has created the majority of everything over the past 5 years at least. So hopefully there isn’t a lot changing other than the logo on the apparel.

Both Springer's parents and Johnson's parents guided their sons here because of Barnes. Chandler chose UT because of Barnes. JJJ came to UT because of Barnes. Knecht came here because of Barnes. Ament is here because of Barnes.
No player is going to choose a school solely over a brand. Of course they came because of Barnes. It’s just one less hurdle to jump. And it’s a legit one in basketball. Ask Louisville who is about to lose a 5 star to UK they’ve had the inside track on for months.

I know it's in play to a certain extent. Is the player changing to UK because they are a Nike school or because he's getting a NIL deal tied in with Nike money
