My rant in favor of Adidas uniforms

I know it's in play to a certain extent. Is the player changing to UK because they are a Nike school or because he's getting a NIL deal tied in with Nike money
Nike mafia putting pressure on Stokes trying to steer him away from UL. He’s been signed on an individual deal with Nike.

Pitino also was on record saying he was at a disadvantage due to Adidas when he was at UL. The recruiting pool is smaller. They don’t have the same type of stranglehold/influence on football, it’s more just Nike is #1 and most popular with kids so you get the kids like AJ brown every so often.

bull hockey. Look at any UT football uniform going back 100 years. The Nike Orange is different. I don't care if they retroactively made a color code to make Nike's shade of orange right. True UT orange is yellowish. Nike orange isn't. We look like diet Texas under Nike. F that. Let's be UT again. I remember an Alabama fan talking about hating UT pumpkin gut orange. Let's bring that back
It was supposed to be the orange of the center of the common daisy. I preferred the color Dewey Warren wore, yes a little more yellow maybe a touch of white in the color blender, but 151 is the law of the land NOW. Need to check every item against that. At least none of our stuff can be confused with others claiming they use orange like Syracuse, Clemson, FL, TX, okie state.

Reebok was owned by Adidas for a good bit. Now owned by Authentic Brands Group. They have a large portfolio including Sports Illustrated and Champion.

I swear thier shoes fit me better than any other brand...Plus we have an outlet store here so I get some good deals on them.

I prefer Nike and have loved their apparel selection over the past several years, especially the Nike baseball hats and jerseys. That’s why I’m disappointed in this deal as a fan. But looking at it from an AD perspective, I would have signed this deal and not given it a second thought. Screw the fans on this one. I’m trying to find a way to pay my athletes and Adidas has said they are a willing NIL partner. Nike was never going to do that. It’s better to be a flagship program for Adidas than to be just another brand with Nike. It gives us the necessary funding to keep up with this crazy landscape we are in and I appreciate Danny White making the best decision for the athletic programs.

Their cotton t shirts suck but everything else is superior in every way. I guess we can look forward to maroon and orange checkerboards. The good thing is there’s still other sources to get quality gear outside of adidas and Nike. Branded Bills hats are the best I’ve seen similar to the legacy 91 that Nike use to make a lot of.

You bought that as proof, didn't ya? Certainly not to wear yourself. A gift possibly… Yep. That is f’d up.

I stand corrected. Cant say i have ever seen it myself. I thought you were talking about the endzones.

It’s all good and there wasn’t a lot of options back then in around 2013. I think they did a power T with the same maroon and orange checkerboard inside it.

Once again, absolutely ridiculous take. Name one time in history a schools recruiting tanked because they changed uniform vendors. You can't because it's an idiotic thing to say or think.
This ranks up there with the time he ranked the attractiveness of quarterbacks and their effectiveness on the field 😂 do not engage, my friend 😂

That logo could have been put on there after it was received from Adidas. That actually happens

Did you miss the part about paying a tax? Yes money matters. But when the money is close that's when the team with better gear wins out. By signing with Adidas we'll have to overpay to get recruits. Because if the money is close they'll never pick us over a Nike school.
Lol... your adidas takes are straight ass

Ever since rumors came out that UT was going back to Adidas, I've seen a lot of folks mad about the change. I mean I get it. Brand choices are subjective and we all have different tastes. Having said that, one talking point I keep seeing in these discussions about Adidas is how Adidas always had the wrong orange. And I'm sitting here looking at my screen thinking "what?!?" How are people so oblivious to history???? Adidas had the correct orange and Nike never has! It's not even remotely the same shade of orange. Look back at film of old games throughout the history of the program and the orange looked way more similar to our old Adidas uniforms than our current Nike gear. The Nike uniforms don't have that distinctive yellowish hue that true UT orange has. Criticize Adidas all you want for not being cool enough or trendy enough, but you just look like a fool when you say Adidas never got our uniform color right.
Last time we had perfect uniforms was 2012.
Although 2021-25 has been pretty close.
Next uniforms need:
1. Big power T on the helmet
2. Fix the number font

And i wont gripe but I wouldn’t mind the black outline returning on the away uniforms

What number font do you want?

Incidentally, I wonder how Steelers fans feel about their number font now? I saw some old school 70's footage of Pittsburgh the other day and I noticed how much better the old school block numbers looked than what they wear now!

Its very simple. All things equal this will hurt us in recruiting because most people (including athletes) prefer Nike to all other athletic brands. That's why we're mad. Cause we know it'll hurt us in the long run regardless of what short term monetary gains the athletic department makes off this deal with an inferior brand.
Sorry, but I see no evidence that Nike has helped us in recruiting. I think that is a myth.

Tennessee Orange, or Pantone 151 C, is the primary color for the university, but white, and later, Smokey — a shade of gray named after our beloved mascot — were added as the two other primary colors to help underscore the boldness of Tennessee Orange.

There are also accent colors in addition to the three primary hues, and they are all named after campus-related people, place and ideologies. From Torch red to Summit blue to Leconte — like the mountain here in East Tennessee — maroon, UT’s accent colors both complement Tennessee Orange and also offer consistency to UT’s look.

We do not wear Smokey Gray. We wear burnt gray.

You might be right. Didn't we win a natty in the 90s wearing Adidas? Interesting that both Miami and Indiana are Adidas schools. I think Ole Miss is too. Maybe switching to Nike was our downfall - after all I am sure dropping the Lady Vols brand and eliminating the light blue from their uniforms had nothing to do with it.

Any number font pre-2015. I just specifically hate the 7 and the 4. Looks retarded
