This.
This is what is opening my eyes to how many sheep we have as UT fans, at least around here. This same time last year we all were so excited because of Lane Kiffin and a lot of it was because of "what a great press conference he had".
Now a year later Kiffin is trash and suddenly EVERYONE says they never trusted him and didn't like his style and didn't like his press conference and blah blah blah blah.
Give me a break. I understand accepting the decision and giving a chance, but that's not what is going on here. After ONE press conference, so many are gushing on over the hire, proclaiming "We made the right choice", and talking about what a great coach he is. Really....amazing you can gather all that from one press conference, especially after bashing a guy whom you said the same things after HIS first press conference.
It's quite humorous actually. Even moreso the cries of "Go root for Vandy if you don't like it". Yes...way to prove how not redneck our fanbase is.
First of all, he is an attorney which means he most likely understands NCAA rules and regulations. He worked and learned for years under Nick Saban....who in my opinion is the best in the business right now. He has NFL experience. He was the recruiting coordinator at LSU where he landed two #1 ranked classes. He is young, seems to be energetic and tenacious...and can obviously recruit big time players. Further, he seems to really want this job and wants to be in Knoxville. He comes across as a man that will embrace UT and will represent us is a classy and tasteful fashion. I think we potentially have a very good young coach on our hands. Let's get behind him, support him, and have faith. I have a very good feeling about this guy...........
I have seen FAR more posts stating support for Dooley vs the "what a great coach" comment you reference above. Quit trying to make something out of nothing.
I think (and hope) many fans have learned something from the poor experience with Kiffin. I didn't buy into him early and will also reserve my opinion of Dooley until I see the product. But given an unknown I still prefer to support the guy in this case rather than criticize him... I see no reason to hate on a guy that seems to promote discipline, hard work, teamwork, and at least some level of ethics.
