Dear Mr. Currie,

I’m sure that you are being inundated with messages about our coaching situation. I have been trying to look at what you must be facing on multiple levels. You have a responsibility to the coaches, student athletes, Administration, donors, and the fan base. I’m sure they are all coming at you with guns blazing.

Well, I won’t blaze a gun. But, as an alum and a lifelong Vol fan, I do feel entitled and obligated to give you my opinion. I believe that, before the Missouri game, you should work out Coach Jones departure with him and his representatives to let him know that this is his last game. The level of toxicity, anger, and fan apathy are all rising with each passing game. This doesn’t help us in recruiting as the latest decommitments have shown. It doesn’t help with our chances of reaching a bowl game and avoiding a school record eight losses. It doesn’t set a good stage for a new coach and it is hurting our national reputation.

Coach Jones has done some good things for our program. But, he is not the person to lead us to titles. Let him go now with some level of respect.
Let him use his Sunday show as a good and appropriate setting for him to say his goodbye.
Then, on Monday, you can address the interim situation and the coaching search. That would be best for all concerned.

Just my .02. Thanks for reading my thoughts.

Best wishes and Go Vols!

it's already done. it's been worked out.

Details?
Butch sure doesn’t sound like he’s gone.
Last night on Vol calls he went on and on about missing 25 players with injuries.
Basilio and Ainge claim that Currie still hasn’t made a final decision and that 7-5 or 6-6 could still save his job.

I don't think it's over. The ideal situation for UT is for Butch to leave for another program and reduce the cost of any settlement.

Just like the Vols are not hearing about a new coach ... there are no rumors of Butch landing anywhere either. There's no news because, ... there is no news.

I still maintain that unless Butch lands somewhere, Currie will insist on changes to Butch's staff ... but not the man himself. I think Butch will be at UT for another year.

Not enough of your poems in this IMO.

Alternate version, just fir you:

Hey Mr Currie,
You better worry.
Knoxville’s burning,
So, you better hurry.

Butch has to go
So the door, you must show,
He’s just not our guy,
And that’s just no lie.

So, do your job, John
Before one more dawn
Send Butch on his way
And bring new blood our way

Currie has advisors.

I choose to believe his top 2 are PM and PF.

Those two VFLs will advise currie to do what they think is best for the program.

I trust PM and PF to give good advice to UT.

Thinking that was Freddy Fender, not Freddy Prinze. Lol.

But I get the sentiment

KB is the President of the "Chico and the Man" Fan Club!

As for the OP and this thread...

Unfortunately without a big check it probably isn't read, even by a staffer.

Did you actually send him the letter?

I have been responding to all the donation emails I've been receiving lately, telling them that I'll start donating again once a very high-quality HC replaces BJ. They responded every time so far, telling me that they will forward my response to the appropriate administrator...

And Basilio is still at Tyson McGee with a pair of binoculars.
