Is that we are becoming Colorado. Their best days are long gone, as ours are. Something big needs to happen soon, or we may be.

There were a time when that 7 and 4 or 6 and 5 was the way it was and that really was not that long ago the 70s and 80s take the 85 team out we sucked for about 15 years, we are on our way to reaching that goal again.:banghead2:

Really? This is just ridiculous. We have multiple first round pick picks on this team. We just havnt played well in big games. IMO that's just poor coaching. Was bama Colorado a few seasons ago? They had a very similar bad stretch but like us are an elite program with great facilities and tradition. We'll be back. It's all cyclical.

Thats what I keep saying, but so many Vol fans just dont get it! Look at our record from 1975-1984....mediocre at best. Many fans only remember from 1989-2007....except for 05, we were great! WE WILL BE BACK!!
Most of the current Top 10 teams were down in either the 90s or early-mid 2000s...

A big problem for Colorado is they kept an awful coach for too long for no reason. I don't think we plan on keeping Dooley for five years, so we should be okay.

Hawkins was still the man and they were destined to get back to prominence. Some would even say it was guaranteed.

This is all for discussion anyway. I do not think we will be that bad as a program, but to think it's impossible isn't realistic either.

Some of you are taking crazy pills or somone glued those orange tinted glasses.

If at the first of the season you wanted to see us in top 25 for one week that is laughable. Rankings dont count until the end of the year. And way to set the bar high...

We dont have a first round pick in next years draft...etc.

Like i said crazy pills ...

like i said and will say again, 1 more bad coaching hire is all it will take to send tennessee football into a downward spiral that will take 15 years to climb out of. don't believe me, go look at our history from 1909-1925. then what happened from 1926-1952.

i said this long ago that we are going to plummit in the history rankings if we don't do something but no everyone on here thought i was stupid. saturday is absolutely dooleys last chance to do something positive at tennessee other than a get us to a bowl and win it. that's it. if we fire him oh the mess that will be created.......... players leaving, recruits leaving you name it it will happen.

It won't set the program back if they hire the right coach even the talking heads in the media are saying that. Just look at Texas A&M.

The comparison is being stuck in the mire for longer than ever imagined.
If it's too deep for you, don't jump in.

And you gotta be the first person to ever say silver spoon to somebody from Hickory Hill area in Memphis.

After the first three games, I honestly felt like we were improving and then came Florida! Since Florida, it seems like we are going backwards. Tennessee seems to have a track record for dumping Coaches after the South Carolina game.....Remember Majors and Fulmer were dumped following the SC game? I kind of doubt that the outcome of that game will make a lot of difference. I just have a gut feeling! But, hey, what do I know????

tennessee is not becoming colorado.

tennessee just needs a good head coach.

what people do need to recognize is that tennessee is at a disadvantage against other sec schools because those schools have recruiting advantages.

but, there's no doubt that tennessee has the potential to win big again

2 things.

1.Remember when the female placekicker was raped? They still haven't recovered from that.

2. It's becoming more and more difficult to recruit to cold weather universities. It sounds stupid, but year after year the big recruit are going to warm weather schools. Recruits don't have to play locally anymore.

edit: Also, the admins have de-emphasized athletics.

I can tell you, having some CU booster friends, it's this more than anything else. ^^^ Everyone thought that might change with the move the Pac-12 but it's been slow to take hold. They just aren't rolling in the donations like SEC schools do. Can also tell you that's the first I've heard of that female placekicker you mentioned (Lisa Simpson I believe was her name) in many years. Don't think that's a factor, if at all.

That said, CU is nothing and I mean nothing like UT. Just from the obivous, I'll go to a game or two every year out here and it's much more like going to a high school game than it is a UT game (I try to get to one UT game a year as well [not this year..thanks Dooley and the economy]). Did go to that CU/Texas game during McCoy's senior year...that was fun.

Most people in Boulder don't give a damn about football. The administration could care less. If they win great, if not who cares. That's the big difference between the two.

Win or lose against USC, Dooley is done.

I can see it to a point, but I think we are a long way from Colorado. Hawkins was a bad fit for Colorado, and his son being the starting QB didn't help his cause.

We just need an SEC elite type coach, and we will be fine.

The kicker was Kate Hnida. I thought it was the reason that Barnett was fired but it was coupled with a recruiting scandal. They were pretty decent then but haven't had a single winning season since. The boosters thing is huge though. Nobody cares about football in Boulder.
