Muschamp to hold Press Conference tomorrow morning

certainly your AD isn't foolish enough to hire another un-proven HC. You better hope for someone that has previous head coaching experience of at least 5 years and at the very minimum a .500 record.

Look Sexton is using UT to get more money for his coach. He will try to do the same with others. I say that Mike Hamilton needs to tell Jimmy Sexton that he will never be involved in negotiating with a coach who is represented by that snake as long as he is AD.

Hamilton is in no position to make threats like that. He needs to hire the right coach this time or the "while I'm AD" goes away. He'll be gone

Is Muschamp the Guy?????
Will he take the job!???

I have been trying to get on since 7:00 last night and the server has been down....

If He does not take the job...call Terry Bowden or Rick Stockstill!!!!

If he's calling a press conference this close to "Lames" press conf. then the logic is he's reaffirming his commitment to Texas. Not enough time for hamilton to vent and interview and even at the 11th hour I don't see Hamilton able to pull off a getting new H.C in less than 24hrs.
I'm not so sure. Muschamp was expecting CMBrown to vacate this year and he would step on as HC at Texas next season. If I were Muschamp, I'd be not only bummed out but flat out pissed off that CMBrown re-upped at Texas. I'd realize that my prime coaching years would be as an assistant. After stewing for a day in those thoughts, I'd be damn ready to jump ship if a big-name school like Tennessee called. Sure, he hasn't visited the campus and looked a the facilities, but anyone can rest assured that UTK has among the best training facilities in the country. He is also familiar with our fan base and the SEC. The only blank in need of filling would be the paycheck, which could be discussed over the phone. Remember, as worried as we are about the recruits jumping ship right now and signing day so close, any potential UTK coach is thinking the same thing and if I am serious about coaching the Vols, then I want to seal the deal as quickly as possible so that I don't penalize myself any more with lost recruits. Why wait a week to take the job when all the star athletes have jumped ship? Decide now and make the move. I would not be the least bit surprised if Muschamp has already worked out a deal to come.

On a side note, I see a lot of posts on CNNSI and ESPN where people are stating that Muschamp would be crazy to leave Texas for Tennessee because Texas is a "better job." That is BS. Those people don't know the history of college football. The Volunteer history is much richer than the Longhorn's and the fan base is at least as big. Plus, the coaches in K-town get paid more.

Also, I would not want to see Fullmer as AD. I like Phil, but the kids were out of control on his watch. I want to see Pat Summitt as AD! That woman would keep a clean ship.

We aren't going to hire a new coach in 12 hours people. It's going to take at least some time. Not to mention a high profile coach like Muschamp. Only Kiffin can leave town that fast.

Both Kippy Brown and Hamilton suggested that there would be a new coach named by this weekend, maybe Friday.

So, I take it there wasn't a press conference for Muschamp. Tough to tell what's rumor and what's fact at the moment.

I agree Muschamp is the man for the job. Show him a blank check. Who knows when Mack will call it quits? I think he can be had, would be able to put together a great staff, and be an immediate improvement for the Vols.

Let's put it this way:

If Muschamp doesn't take this job, he doesn't want to be a head coach anytime soon. By turning down UT, he's basically saying that he's happy getting paid like a head coach without actually being one. He gets benefits of the job without the pressure.

As of now, CWM is my top choice (as if that matters :) ), but K-Town does not pay coaches more...Mack B. is the highest paid coach....$5M i believe?

Muschamp hasn't had a press conference yet correct?

If so I find it hard to believe he isn't at least listening to offers coming from Knoxville

Everything is rumor and speculation right now anyways

I wish we would have got the right man to begin with.We would not be having this discussion.GO VOLS!!!! This dark spot in UT football will pass on.We will get it right this time!!

Great how dull will the games be watching the wishbone...... run left 5 times run right 10 times up the middle 2 times back to running to the left, ohhh wait lets throw a pass................

Muschamp is obviously listening. He had a news conference set up today to turn down the job, but it never happened. Hamilton may have upped the bid a bit considering it's pretty much Muschamp or bust. Come on Mikey reel him in!

It is being reported on ESPN that Hamilton is set to talk with Muschamp tonight or early tomorrow morning. Also said UTenn is willing to pay 3mil a year! That is alot of money boys! You would think if other coaches heard the amount of money they would be interested. If it is Muschamp there had better be a 10 million dollar buy out on his side. I just don't want to see Brown retire in two years and us be looking for another head coach.
