I find it extremely appropriate that it was none other than the Z-man who pitches us to a share of the SEC championship!!! Today, he goes 6 innings with 4 Ks, giving up only 4 hits and 0 runs, in a game in which we did not have our greatest offensive production. Zander stuck with us when he had other opportunities. He dutifully accepted pitching of the midweek games over an extended stretch, which is a key assignment that doesn’t receive much fanfare. He has entertained us both off the field with his mischief with Kirby and on the field with his “routines” (definitely not superstitions).

Against all odds, this team has become a juggernaut in recent years. We have had/will have a number of 1st round draft picks. While not all players will be taken that high, players like the muffin man are vital for their on-field contributions, but much more than that. Thanks to Zander for all his contributions!

I know you are one proud papa today. Congrats on raising such a great young man and happy for him to lead us to another SEC Championship! Couldn’t ask for a better pitching performance with the conference title on the line.
This has got to stay!!! No editing for @greasemachine Papa Don’t Preach..haha

Thank you Z-Man and the entire TN ⚾️ program for bringing me so much joy as it’s been a fun year.

I’ve only attended one college baseball game in my life & that was in 2022 when @ Preacherman gave my son and I a pair in Hoover to watch the Vols win the SEC.

I was going to spend $$ on UT vs. NC State 🏈 tix, but changed mind. Instead I plan on attending a (regionals and/or beyond)a ⚾️ game in June. Hopefully one in Regionals, supers, and Omaha.

Extremely well said! zander is the consummate Vol! Blessed to have him all 4 years and appreciate his hard work and loyalty! He has performed excellent on Sundays after being a shut down Tuesday stud!

He was fantastic yesterday. Kudos to him for grinding the past few years and earning the rotation spot I’m sure he has wanted for a long time. Zander is a perfect example of what working at your craft and pouring your heart into something can accomplish. You don’t have to be a velo machine to be a great pitcher. There is a lot more to it than that.

He’s been a huge part of this program for several years and I hope he’ll be able to deliver 3-4 more solid performances to get us that coveted national championship. Congrats Z!

We talked him into doing the Zorro move after every strikeout. Most did not see it but we are trying to add it to his repertoire of interesting things he does.

Kirby making a little pile of Zander food on the camera pit wall in between innings had us cracking up.

Bubble gum, pickle sunflower seeds, a half eaten uncrustable....it just kept growing.
