MTV's "The Challenge" Thread

I hate that CT came back out of shape. Definitely just came for the pay check. He’s my favorite “vet” but I doubt he lasts long. He looks terrible. I mean, it’s pretty bad when Annessa arrives in better shape than CT.

I hate there no Jordan or Wes or even Devan.

Has to suck for Rogan. How embarrassing to call out your opponent, totally underestimate him and then get wrecked.

I did like the elimination. It was one of the more creative ones I’ve seen in years.

Glad there’s no Paulie and no crybaby Josh.

I watched the episode while doing stuff around the house so didn’t really “lock in” so I might have missed some stuff. Not sure if any of the new people look like legit threats.

I do like how the noobs are finally starting to realize the importance of eliminating the dominant players like bananas, but it’s amazing how they mess up execution. Bananas looks older than he ever has but he still has it. Dominated the first challenge.

Definitely felt good to have the challenge back on TV. Seems like it’s been abnormally long since the last season.

Episode two was underwhelming. My broadcast or my recording at least was messed up - literally opened with the elimination followed by the rest of the show being all that preceded. Kind of make the whole episode irrelevant when you know what happens.

Can't stand Rogan, so that was cool.

Can't believe daily winners are this impotent....all you get is safety and the power to protect another pair? So weird.

[production waits to see who wins the daily]

Production: Winners will now nominate a challenger for elimination

I got the footage of the comp. It was cool. They were watching from beneath dune buggies as they jumped and were trying to read the icons on the bottom to match them to what they put on their board. Turbo figured out way before anybody else that it was a pattern, and you didn't have to observe every icon on every car.

Latest episode the old heads are showing their age.

Feels like there are some decent young competitors this go round. No one really stands out b the way of personality though.

Bananas gone. I feel like the producers probably wanted that because that elimination was made for Gabe. Maybe his “I am the challenge” comment pissed them off as well.

CT is such a nerd. Literally went from a feared monster to now a fat awkward dude.

Derek K needs to shave his head.

I do like some of the new threats but I don’t know any of their names. 😂

Michala seems to get a lot of TV time. Her and Olivia seem to be the front running females for new faces. I don’t remember how Olivia got so much power in the house.

Also feels like it’s been a while since either Fessy or Josh Martinez have been cast. I hope that trend continues.

I truly do not understand how Olivia gets so much power in this game. It's not like she got a bunch of her long-time alliance members with her this season. What does she have to offer the new kids? What's his name (Leo?) is taking an extremely loud stand against nominating rookies one week, and then a week later he's voting in rookies because that's what she wants. It's crazy.

Is it just that she's against Bananas? Now that he's gone, will it fall apart for her?

Cara Maria leaving didn’t move the needle. She was pretty invisible so far this season.

The intro edit for Johanna made it seem like she’s had some recent wins? I’m guessing in the all star spin offs? Nevertheless, I really wish MTV would stop casting middle aged housewives built like bags of mashed potatoes.

In the same thought - for the love of god please blur out Annessas mid section. I laughed at Ashley’s “the only thing Annessa is loyal to is losing the challenge” line.

The daily was cool. Terrible showing by Ben (I think that’s his name). And I’m sorry Ben but if you lose to flaming Derek in a hall brawl you should never get invited back. Idk maybe because I played hs football and maybe they didn’t, but it amazes me how bad some guys perform, even strategy wise, in that game.

She went to the final and then won twice in a row in All-Stars. She completely dominated. The first season was kind of a joke, but by season 3 the competition was much better.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single spin off except for one where CT and Terrell Owens got into it.

The first season was sad, but I would say by season 3 or 4, they had legit seasons. Some old people that are out of shape and still trying to figure out life, but at least half the cast would be people that you can respect as competitors and/or as adults, LOL. I think Devin was on all-stars, so it's not just has-beens.

What an embarrassing episode for CT. Never thought I’d see it but he’s become what I’ve always hated about the challenge - a terrible competitor who just shows up for the appearance fee.

As far as the elimination - I thought it was a good one. Five minutes didn’t seem that long so I was kind of surprised how slow it seemed Olivia was going at the start. She’d be slowly sliding down the thing as Leka was about half a lap ahead of her and she seemed indifferent. But obviously that must’ve been harder than it looked because Leka crashed hard and Olivia won by 2.

Overall I’ve enjoyed the creativity with the eliminations this season.

Nothing really interesting from last episode.

I do wonder what the best way to figure out that last puzzle though. Maybe connect the outsides first and then try to fit the middle in there?

Elimination was okay.

Nany needs to stop smiling.

Derek needs to shave his head.

I wish Jordan or Wes was on this season, or that CT didn’t show up at 300lbs. I hate not having one of my long time vets on to root for.

No one else watching? I feel like I'm talking to myself here...

I figured going into this last episode that they would be targeting CT being its a males day, but I hated how the title of the episode took the suspense out of it and made it obvious. Strategically, I'm not sure what sense it makes targeting CT. He's old, massively overweight, and about as much of a threat to win the final as Annessa is at this point.

I don't know if it was camera trickery, but that looked like an especially dangerous daily. To free fall from as high as it looked like they were, and with the column spinning... someone could've gotten hurt. Especially considering so many of the players are in their 30s and 40s. Thought it was a good daily. Sydney, Turbo, and Yeremi seem like far and away the best competitors on the game. I'd be shocked if one of them wasn't the winner.

Jake and Will are basically the same person to me. One just has an accent.

For the elimination... that was unfair for Derrick Chavez. About as unfair as the banannas elimination was. If what happened to bannanas didn't happen, then I would think MTV was setting their franchise players up with favorable eliminations to keep them around. Because in no universe does Derrick Chavez beat CT in a pole wrestle. That said - and it may have been creative editing, DC did put up one hell of a fight. Which plays again into what a shell of himself CT is anymore. He couldn't even stand up after the elimination - he stayed down on his knees forever.

I hate how none of the new threats have really endeared themselves to me. Maybe its a sign that I'm getting too old for this show. As much **** as a talk on CT, I"m still rooting for him in this game. It's just hate rooting because he's one of my all time favorites and he definitely didn't prepare for this at all. Just came for the paycheck. I wish Jordan or Wes was here.
