My wife just got a job that will move us to Owensboro, KY. I am a born an bred Tennessean, and an alum of UT. Please someone give me advice on how to survive the Blue Mist! To top it off, her grandfather played football for KY and his public enemy #1 is the Big Orange. Please help Orange brethren!!!!!

I think I would just sit there like a big ol' cheshire cat, but you need to be prepared to deal with people giving you a hard time when they get the occasional win over us in basketball. You had best hope and pray that they don't eek out a win in football any time soon.

They are due in football. I dread that day.

Well, the best way to handle ribbing is to not get defensive about it. Nothing deflates an opposing team's fan who wants to rub it in your face like saying "You know what? You guys played a great game and beat us." From that point on, just take it all in stride and they'll eventually lose interest because they can't get a rise out of you. Then, when the streak starts over you can say "Well, I hope it isn't another 22 seasons before you win again," or whatever that number may be when the time finally comes, and just return to that cheshire smile.

That is good advice. I just hope I can find some Orange brothers in the area.

i can't believe we've beaten KY that many times in a row (22). I realize that's the actual number, but it's hard to believe.

I've lived all my 37 years here in Nicholasville, which is about 7 or 8 miles south of Lexington.

Rest assured, you will have the occasional UK nut that will drive you crazy and remind you of the 7 NCAA titles they have.

Living in Owensboro will put you close to Louisville fans and most will side with you. They have an unbelievable hatred for UK.

Good luck in your move and remember, not all UK fans are that bad.

We'll be waiting here to offer any help on Vol Nation. :good!:

My whole family is the same way. My grandfather played bb for Rupp (practice squad but still...). For now though, the blue mist is quite. They cannot really say anything to Tennessee at the moment. I'll tell you what though, there was nothing sweeter to me than screaming rocky top at the end of that UK football game. Fans were all in my face before the field goal block :) :) :) one of the top memories of my life!

Absolutely correct. That is a hatred that runs deep inside their souls.

I was held prisoner of war in Kentucky for 8 years. Got back to the right side of the line about 2 years ago. The sun has shone brighter since that day.

Every UK football season's mantra is "this is the year". Monday after the UT game is sullen with a lot of "same old Kentucky" from their fans. Basketball season is nuts. If you want to have some real fun, say something nice about Tubby Smith. Then duck.

Good luck my friend, I have been where you are going.

I will give you the positives and being my ex-wife is from there, I feel I have good insight on this.

1. Dukes of Hazzard & Knight Rider just came out up there....it is fresh and exciting with everyone chatting up this week's episode. Fantasy Island & Love Boat are scheduled to come out this fall.

2. E.T. is debuing at all drive-ins July 4th.

3. On the radio.......Bon Jovi's Shot Through the Heart is at the top of the Kentucky charts but Boy George's Chameleon is up to #4 with a bullet!

4. There are no Shoney's but if you'll hang on a bit Subway is scheduled to open 3 stores there in late 2014.

Good luck with the move!!!:cray:

Hopefully, you won't forget about dental hygiene and start getting "strange" feelings towards your sister or miscellaneous farm animals.

I just recently moved back to western kentucky from memphis...I grew up in Kentucky my whole life...Was out last night with my UT hat on here in Paducah and got ribbed on cause of the one win in basketball and how it should've been two wins...I had two words for them Scotty Hopson...it shut them up real quick....
