Most overrated Vol

Iirc, ark was leading by 2-3 pts. We handed the ball off to the big cheese every play and scored a td to win the game. Ark returned the favor the next year by beating us. If we had beat them, we might have backed into the NC game that year.

You are right, I was wrong. I had to go back and watch the video from that game. That drive after the fumble recovery gives me goosebumps.

And yes, I vividly remember losing the next year and our hopes of replaying for a national championship dying.

Casey Clausen. and I thank stephens for winning in the swamp. clausen was just there. Oh and our defense was horrible too!! Yea Clausen carried us on his back.

Yes, yes yes....made a big splash simply because he wasn't on anyone's scouting report. Could never follow it up, because it was a fluke to begin with.

Oh man, does it ever stop with you? Kelly Washington was no fluke. Please explain to me how he didnt "follow up" as you call it in 2002? I cant wait to hear this. LOL

Look up the stats. I don't have time to be your nanny anymore.

I dont have to, you dont know what you're talking about.

Washington was carried off the field in the 2nd quarter at Georgia, he only played 3 games, but dominated in those 3 starts. Now tell me how it is he is so overrated, and didnt "follow up" if he had a career threatening injury that prevented him from participating in 2002! LOL

Dirk Borgione and the National Gatorade Player of the year from Wheeling WV RB named Jeter say hello.

And he's done what since then? He was GREAT in 2001, but did he mirror someone with that type of production in the SEC once he got to the league? Yes he averaged over 100 yds per game in 02. I will give you that, but past his first 2 years in the league, in which he showed promise, he has done nothing. I really don't get why you're being so confrontational towards me, unless you're just a naturally contentious person. You do realize you're not the only person in the world entitled to an opinion right?

he collected an NFL check for 8 years. How many players in that draft can say the same?

plus he does one heck of a TD dance

But, did he live up to what you would expect from a guy that put up 256 yards against LSU?

He was in the league for 9 years! And you said the NFL doesnt matter anyway, so why does it matter now when we're talking about "overrated Vols." We're not talking about overrated Bengals, or overrated Ravens, or overrated Chargers, we're talking about overrated Vols, and Washington was one of the best we've ever had, but you claim 2001 was a "fluke" and he never "followed up." Seek help.

This thread is left more for interpretation. As in they could be overrated while in college, now in the NFL, or even coming out of high school (as in Brian Darden) Maybe I'm the only person that thinks he's overrated(I'm not but I digress) because I had unrealistic expectations for him. Maybe he is only overrated if I was the person doing the "rating".

Not that many make it in the league for that long.

No they really don't. Not at any position. I think teams keep Kelley around because of A) the potential he had and hopes that it will manifest itself and B) he's huge. He's at least gotta be good for blocking and has played well on ST in the league.

he holds the single game mark at UT and is up there in other categories. There's a whole lot of players listed before KW on the overrated list

The polls just closed in St. Louis....Clyde Duncan won in a landslide!

Won't argue there. There are plenty of people named on this list that I won't consider overrated at all. but if one person has them overrated who am I to challenge what they think? Maybe it was that person's own expectations the Vol didn't live up to. Do I think Kelley was most overrated? No, but I do think he was overrated coming into of the NFL.

Overrated Vols?

Keith Jeter. Bryce Brown. OJ Owens. Moses Collins. Lloyd Kerr. Kenny Smith. Randy Sanders. Maurice Staley.

Im sure I'm forgetting some/alot...but that's a long enough list of suck that it's already ruined my day to remember them all.

Some of those guys didn't play here long so it's a real stretch to say overrated on them. Maurice Staley? He contributed as a freshman. Got kicked off for some reason and then returned many years later to get his degree. Bryce Brown looked pretty darn good the first part of his freshman season before the hip injury got to be too troublesome.

Eric Ainge is easily the most overrated in my lifetime and it's not even close. The guy NEVER had any success when under any pressure l and had to have the offense simplified just to make him somewhat effective. If not for the return of David Cutcliffe, Eric Ainge would have never seen the field his last two years
