The Vols need to be more violent than every team they play. Every play, every hit should be a monstrous collision, where the other team's players lay prostrate on the ground. The more violent, the more physical, the more the Vols win. To quote a Vol old-timer "you other guys better tie your hats on, because the Vols are coming for you."
Yeah, had we hit Nebraska harder in 1997, we probably don't lose 42-17 and give up 400 yards rushing. But we didn't.
It was a contact sport. Nobody is forcing anyone to play the game. So those that do have long-term effects have only themselves to blame.
It's completely unfair to the defender the way the game is officiated now.
Sounds good. We may have more penalty yards than total offense but who cares, they canāt call us soft. The Vols need to be more violent than every team they play. Make the opposing team wear a āwe support policeā sticker. Problem solvedThe Vols need to be more violent than every team they play. I agree with you that it can lead to targeting and momentum swings for the other team, but I would take violence right now over getting pushed back 2 or 3 yards every time a defender for UT goes to make a tackle. If im going to see momentum swings for the opponent, Id rather watch the offensive players get their bell rung as opposed to getting manhandled lmaoViolence == Targeting. Targeting == Momentum Swing in favor of the other team.
Someone intentionally ripping someone's head off should be? Look I'm not a fan of the rule in current form cause it penalizes guys who didn't mean to because an offensive guy lowered his head or a bang bang play which neither should be penalized for. Intentionally doing it is no different than twisting ankles in a pile. Both are dirtyClean are allowed
