Dude shut up.

It was just an opinion.

And I know you are not calling me a couch warrior? šŸ˜…

So is mine; so I suggest you not tell me to "shut up" unless you're prepared to do so yourself.

And yes I am. Or would you prefer "Internet Tough Guy"?

The Vols need to be more violent than every team they play. Every play, every hit should be a monstrous collision, where the other team's players lay prostrate on the ground. The more violent, the more physical, the more the Vols win. To quote a Vol old-timer "you other guys better tie your hats on, because the Vols are coming for you."

Yeah, had we hit Nebraska harder in 1997, we probably don't lose 42-17 and give up 400 yards rushing. But we didn't.

It was a contact sport. Nobody is forcing anyone to play the game. So those that do have long-term effects have only themselves to blame.

It's completely unfair to the defender the way the game is officiated now.

So you don't want them to make the game safer and you're going to bitch when they do, but then when they talk how the long term effects diminish their life your response is "Tough s***"? Get bent Couch Warrior.

Football is now Airball. Hitting is now Roughing/Targeting and more times than not penalized. Game has changed dramatically in the last 20 or so years, some for the good and some......not so much. I'm all for the safety of the players, but I do miss the "nastiness" part of the game.
But not really

Sounds good. We may have more penalty yards than total offense but who cares, they can’t call us soft.

By the way, when the old timer talked about "tying your hats on", he was referencing the old school leather helmets, NOT this wimpy, nambi-pambi helmets they have today.

Make the opposing team wear a ā€œwe support policeā€ sticker. Problem solved

Prolly should try consistently tackling before we try laying people out to prove how violent we are...

Just an idea.

I agree with you that it can lead to
Violence == Targeting. Targeting == Momentum Swing in favor of the other team.
I agree with you that it can lead to targeting and momentum swings for the other team, but I would take violence right now over getting pushed back 2 or 3 yards every time a defender for UT goes to make a tackle. If im going to see momentum swings for the opponent, Id rather watch the offensive players get their bell rung as opposed to getting manhandled lmao

If they were to hit someone with a good old slobberknocker hit they would be thrown out of today's football game. It's getting more like Flag Football with each rule change.

Clean are allowed
Someone intentionally ripping someone's head off should be? Look I'm not a fan of the rule in current form cause it penalizes guys who didn't mean to because an offensive guy lowered his head or a bang bang play which neither should be penalized for. Intentionally doing it is no different than twisting ankles in a pile. Both are dirty

We’re on the same page.
They get away with murder and the defender is 100% without review.

Pretty sure that Maurer hit qualifies as a slobbernocker! Kudos to him for being back at practice on Tuesday.
