More Boilermakers out

If you want guys who just look at your win/loss record and not who you play, recruiting would be much better if we dropped to the Southern conference.

I'd prefer recruits who have a clue about football.
]I get what you’re saying but teams like Bama never said after they beat us. Man they had 30 players portal, man I wished they were at full strength h3ll we even got 1 of those 30 playing LB. I just don’t feel good about beating someone with depleted roster. No they take the win and don’t look back. It’s their culture and it’s working for them. They have by far the best recruits nationwide and don’t feel sorry for anyone they destroy hook or crook.

Sure, it's a W and better than an L. No arguments there and no apologies for winning.

For recruiting though, I don't think a Purdue win in the 2021 Music City Bowl pushes us over the hump for an elite recruit. Saban will go recruiting with a fist full of rings, and possibly a new one, not a plaque from the 2021 Music City Bowl.

It's about having perspective on what a win in this bowl actually means. We overachieved, for sure, but calling a win in the 2021 Music City Bowl "huge for recruiting" as some are in this thread are is just too much for me.

I actually think it CAN be big. With all these bowl cancellations, we are the day before the playoffs and recruits and transfers will be watching. We could, and SHOULD put up a big show. Could sway a few guys. UT has its eye on a few big time transfers and hearing in February will flip a few big recruits. It can help, trust me.

I think the exciting offense CAN sway guys but there's WAY better film from the season than we're likely to see in Nashville. Rust from the layoff, bowl jitters, guys out, etc makes for more mistakes.

It'll be fun, probably a little frustrating at times, but I just don't see it as representative of us or Purdue from what the teams were in the regular season.

I'll never understand this line of thinking. Beating someone that's nowhere near their best means exactly what? If it's just a win hell let's move to the MAC. We can get all kinds there

It’s a mid-tier bowl against Purdue. Who really cares how we win? What matters is that 8-5 looks a lot better than 7-6. No one will remember how we got there.

Saban’s first year at Bama, they won their bowl against Colorado to go 7-6 instead of 6-7. Do we remember how good that Colorado team was or which players were out with injury? Of course not. But Bama got a 7th win, which set the table for the next step, I remember that.

I don’t get it. There seems to be a belief that some teams are scared of playing other teams and are looking for a way out of the game (if so, why did they accept the bowl bid in the first place?). You can’t be serious, this is a football game. In the regular season, the 2-3 cream puff teams that all the power schools play don’t seem to have a problem showing up (Bama vs Mercer...). The outcome of most of these games will have little impact on anything. Getting to a bowl game may help recruiting but winning or losing these games between 5 to 6 loss teams does not matter a whole lot. The main reward and goal for those games should probably be “having a little fun”.

If this game gets cancelled, this will be the second straight Music City Bowl that Tennessee has not participated in and therefore would UT consider playing in future Music City Bowls???????????????
Actually We were slated to play WVU in the Liberty bowl last season...Not the music city bowl...We didn't play because of covid.

Never thought I’d see a proud program like A&M dodge a game

why do people keep saying things like this?

Schools and conferences are just following protocols to cancel games. There are 41 NCAA basketball games already cancelled this week through Saturday.

If the protocols need to be changed, that is not up to the individual schools. that belongs to conferences or states the schools reside in.

Everyone is just following the individual guidelines they have to work under.

Could happen to our programs at any time..

People being careless with their words is causing this thing to be worse. If you can’t see that I can’t help you.

No, the way our government has handled it is the real problem. Paying big bucks to hospitals and Dr and health care workers to inflate numbers, not allowing the sick to take medicine early on like couple of other countries did and had hardly any Covid deaths, and ……..oh what the hell you probably would not agree with anything I say.
Enjoy the game.
