Money people upset

That’s why smart AD’s keep “rainy day” funds to prepare for such. The ones who did aren’t currently passing out their hats to the coaching staffs looking for donations.
We have been too busy hiring bargain bin coaches then paying extravagant buy outs to save any money. I would love someone to calculate the money we have spent on buyouts and see how much these “low cost” options have really cost us.

Bet that money could have hired a top tier coach a decade ago that would have saved us a ton of buyout money.

You either pay now, or pay later. We are the “pay later” type because we expect a Porsche performance while offering only Kia money.

There are some other big $$$ boosters that are in the game now aside from the old guard. And I think some of the old guard is about to let some of these newer guys have their turn to see what they can do.

I spend a lot of time on my computer and I ain't heard sh!t...

Of course most of that time is spent using CAD and Solidworks.... 😎

Almost forgot.......... VolNation too........
Not really. Stop going to games, watching games, buying UT gear, etc. Fans are the lifeblood of the program.
I have, I will, I have.
GBO!!

Well, since you "know" people, tell your buddies to pull their heads out of their asses, work TOGETHER and do something about this clusterf**k...
What do you think I talk about when I am around them? Problem is easier said than done. UT needs to find a great alternative and then they will work together. No one is putting money up unless they have a proven coach ready to sign and even then funding will be contingent on signing the new coach.

Also to not overstate my importance, I am not one of the big money guys. I have done well but I am not writing multi million checks to UT at this point in my life. But I can create a persuasive argument and be a sounding board for rational game planning.

So they don't like Freeze? Do they really want to win or just put their "stamp" on things? Freeze is honestly the closest to a "sure thing" that would be willing to take this on.. IMO

Freeze is the type of proven coach that would satisfy the boosters I have directly spoken with. Freeze has baggage but hiring a winning coach at this point of time is the most important factor. With that said, the coach target list that would get boosters to write checks is bigger than just Freeze. DC/OC with no head coach experience won’t get any booster support, that I can promise.

What's the holdup then? They surely can't believe retaining Pruitt for another year is "good for business" can they?

That is a game of threading the needle. You won’t officially make a move unless you are certain the other person would accept and that you have booster support for the candidate. You can’t have that game being made public unless you win.

Well, it would just be nice to know the game is being played, in earnest at this point. No details necessary... 🙄

Water Rat, the high profile boosters haven't made their millions by being dummies. What is left of the loyal faction of the fanbase will be wiped out with a sloppy win against 0 and 7 Vandy and get boat raced at home by Florida and A&M. Season tickets will suffer . The stadium will be at 60 to 70% capacity at best next year, concessions and merchandise sales will be down. At that point CJP is a dead man walking who will be unable to recruit to Tennessee. It seems reasonable that the right head coach hire could result in a increased ticket sales with commensurate increases in concessions and merchandise

I completely agree with your economics on principle from the perspective of UT but it is not boosters receiving monetary benefit of a high performing football program unless their businesses directly benefit from increased traffic. The boosters are in large part footing the bill with the benefit being purely their passion to see UT do well. Their “return on investment” if they are to give $12m must be $12m in unquantifiable happiness in seeing UT back on top. For them to do that then the bet must be as close to a sure thing given the 4 previous failures.

With that said, if Pruitt starts JG next week then I would expect boosters will want to fire him out of spite. Booster egos can be a good thing for UT in that scenario.

Soooo, it's going to take Pruitt trotting JG out there at least one more time for them to make up their minds........... Jesus...

If I understand your post correctly, the money folks are as frustrated as the rank and file fan with respect to CJP's handling (or mishandling ) of the QB

“Money” people have money because they don’t flush it down the toilet which is precisely what buying out another terrible coach would be doing. If UT had a homerun coach on the line, maybe but they realize that it will probably come from the bargain bin again

Just as mad if not more. Imagine if you paid off your old car, paid in cash for a Porsche 911, and received a beaten up Kia that would only run half the time. That is the feeling of the boosters right now.

What is really alarming is that we all know the only reason Pruitt won't get fired or is not already fired is because of "money issues." He is certainly not staying because anyone thinks he has done a good job here.

Almost nobody is making the argument, at this point, that Pruitt should stay because he has done well or looks to be moving the team in the right direction.

This fact should stand on its own of why Pruitt should be let go. Everybody knows we are delaying the inevitable. We are looking at a 3-8 season if we are lucky and it's an ugly 3-8

Don't know how true it is but heard from
someone who spends a lot of time on computers that the money people are upset with Fulmer and Pruitt . Maybe some of you other posters could check other websites and find out if it is. Don't want to start rumors.

Then why start one?

It's not rocket science to see the problem, JG, for whatever reason is just not getting the job done, whether it's in his head or not. You can't keep playing the guy knowing that the odds of him throwing 1 or more pick 6s, not just INTs, and you're going to lose the game. What's the worst Bailey can do? Match JG is pick 6s? To me, just looking at JG, he's not there. Not saying he's not trying but just look at his faceless expressions. I feel sorry for the guy but I can also feel sorry for him sitting on the bench while we try to win a game. Really don't want to be a hater, but coach you gotta make a change--from the start.

I have spoken to a guy or 2. This does not mean anyone is gone. This also does not mean anyone is back. I can say this, both of them are influential and big spenders, and they're very frustrated. They also both say others are in the same boat. Yes this is vague. But right now this is what i got.
