...there’s not a ton to report.
Notably, today was the first day freshman linebacker JJ Peterson could be in full pads, but like the rest of his teammates, the Colquitt County product was in shorts and shoulder pads. Peterson was getting plenty of individual attention from Kevin Sherrer, who was giving continued instructions on “how to strike.”
Junior ILB Quart’e Sapp was at practice after playing just two snaps Saturday. Tailback Ty Chandler was also back with the RB group.
-Jesse SimontonJohn Mincey and Kingston Harris were the lone two freshmen working with the main DL unit. Greg Emerson and Kurott Garland were with the scout team.
Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt spent the lone period open to media over with the offensive line, but he wasn't really watching the offensive line during drills. Instead he was giving plenty of one-on-one attention to freshman defensive lineman Greg Emerson, who went against Trey Smith on a few blocking-drill reps. Pruitt coached up Emerson after each of his reps and lauded the big rookie when he was doing what he was coached to do.
Linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. and wide receiver Josh Palmer appeared to get maintenance days on Monday, but safety Todd Kelly Jr., who has yet to play this season, was going through drills normally with the rest of the safeties.
-Patrick BrownOn the offensive line, the Vols didn't really do any full-line or half-line drills and instead worked in tandems during positional work. One interesting pair was Chance Hall and Drew Richmond. The others were Smith and Jahmir Johnson, Nathan Niehaus and K'Rojhn Calbert, Riley Locklear and Marcus Tatum and Ryan Johnson and Jerome Carvin.
