Almost that time of year again :) 76 days away

EXCLUSIVE! In MLB® 13 The Show™, your efforts within any mode, and any platform, will earn you XP towards your Universal Profile. All XP is tallied by where you’ve earned it. The more XP you earn, the higher your profile level. Your Profile will give other gamers a snapshot of the type of player you are by breaking down where you spend your time, as well as how seasoned you are in general. At intervals throughout the game, you’ll get subtle notifications about how much XP you are earning. Once you get back to the Front End, you can check your profile to see how much you earned in the entire session.

As seen below, your current profile level plus any progress made towards the next level, is displayed in the bottom left corner of the Front End. You can bring up your profile screen by pressing Select to navigate the Hotbar and choosing the Profile icon.

Your MLB® 13 The Show™ profile displays a breakdown of all your earned XP, online stats from past and present, recent play history, and current Ratings in competitive online play. All of which are accumulated from your time with the PS3 and VITA versions of the game. Your profile will immediately give other users a sense of the type of player you are.

The Universal Profile additions in MLB® 13 are just a small first step towards much bigger plans in the years to come. We want to create a universal sense of progression for users regardless of their platform or play style, and this year’s efforts are just the beginning of this evolution.

EXCLUSIVE! Here’s a quick look at Throwbacks Uniforms featured in this year’s game.

MLB The Show has always featured a selection of uniforms for our fans to play in, from current uniforms to alternate uniforms to throwback uniforms, and this year we added new designs into the mix. Each team will have 2 throwback uniform options, with OVER 30 new to MLB 13 The Show. Now enjoy some uniforms that date back to the early 1900’s, or uniforms that were used before a team relocated. Whatever teams you are a fan of, we have uniforms that represent your team through the years.

Spring training is only a few weeks away and Baseball is Back! Until then, I hope you enjoyed the screenshots of Throwback Uniforms featured in MLB 13 The Show.

Russell said hitting timing will be adjusted slightly in MLB 13 The Show to give batters a more satisfying payoff on solid contact. "You're going to see more offense like you do in real life," he said, addressing criticisms that The Show's rigorous contact physics last year made the game a station-to-station game of base hits for most novices. "If you square up on a fastball, it's going to be hit harder than it was before," Russell added. "People are going to be very surprised."

Other upgrades Russell described involved a complex formula in the game's franchise mode, whereby team payroll—i.e., management's willingness to spend—will expand or contract relative to the team's success, and not just because a team made the playoffs or won a World Series. Teams like the Padres will never spend like teams like the Yankees, and vice versa. But especially in Road to the Show, if you end up in a small market or a perennial loser, and take them to a breakout season, you have a reasonable hope of seeing management spend for a supporting cast to get your club further into October, without stranding you there until you become an unrestricted free agent.

Also, due to the 2K series no longer in existence, the Show will have a feature called The Show Live which is like the feature in 2K called MLB today.

2012 version never seemed to take off like the previous years versions did and even though it's only the first thing i've seen about '13, so far it's not making me tingly in my pants

12 was absolutely great and the best in the series. The inprovements they made with ball physics made the game fresh for me and made the game "alive". Still have to see more things from 13 before I decide, but the new "Show Live" is a great start IMO. Devs were talking about the one guy working for over a year on an improved ball physics 2.0 for 13 and the jump would be similar to what you saw with Frostbite 1.0 to 2.0, which was a pretty big leap.

The online stability of 12 made it a first day buy for me. Havent seen anything yet that pops out like that for 13 yet, but there is a lot of time between now and release.

This series has pretty much run its course with me. Its good, but skipped last year and didn't miss it for a second. IMO baseball franchise Sims are superior in text Sims.

Best sports game out there IMO.....right there with NHL. If you are coming from 2011, 2013 would be be worth the upgrade IMO.
