Does anyone know if they plan to fix the collision detection issues? I hate it when the baserunner runs through the basemen.
Another innovative feature being introduced this year is collision awareness. This will finally eliminate the clipping we see when players pass right through each other. Now you will see players getting spiked, plenty more animations for breaking up double plays, new tags and slides. Finally players can collide anywhere on the field. This has been a community request for years.
Here is the answer to your question along with some new info

Question: Do they improve MLB the show enough each year to warrant an annual purchase? I just got 11 after playing 08 up until last christmas, seeing as I just got 11 and I will have to pay near enough £45-50 to import it, do you think it's worth getting 12 later this year?
Today, many of us used the time to simply dig-in to the game and experience the new features and changes. Visually, its pretty similar, but the list of fixes, changes, redesigns, and other features is pages long. One of the first changes we noticed right away is the all new physics engine applied to the Baseball. The old system was completely ripped-out and replaced with an all-new system, and the change is immediately noticeable. The ball reacts to everything in the environment as it actually should. When you see the ball jump off of the bat, the path and trajectory that the ball takes feels incredibly natural. I actually hope to talk to the brains behind this new engine, and obviously, if I do Ill post anything I find out. For now, lets just say, if youve ever actually played the game of Baseball, you know, on a field and stuff, that the Baseball in MLB 12 The Show actually reacts to everything like it did when you were playing. Its damned impressive and really impacts the game and how you play it. Hits dont seem formulaic or canned as in years past, and even on this first half-day that consisted of about 10 hours, weve already heard many instances when someone yells did you just see that?!?! Of course, there are many more changes and fixes, and trust me, Ill cover as much as I can (theres so much, and also, some things I still am not allowed to talk about.)
I can tell you that after playing 12, I tried to play 11 today and put the controller down.
The ball physics are a thing of beauty and makes playing 11 impossible. I am going to finish my sim only franchise while I wait for 12.
