Mizzou Defense

All the predictions had UK being a close game also..

I dont know if we will get all the rushing yards people are saying...

But I do like the match up of our D against their O. Mauk is not the beast some try to make him out to be.. the stats don't lie.

I feel like we can come out swinging and put up some early points and deflate their team just like UGA did.

Mauk is a feast or Famine QB a lot of flaws if he falters it could get ugly....but if he plays smart and uses his legs....then with our def. we have a decent shot at winning.

Does someone on here know something about the Mizzou defense that no one else in the college football world knows? I mean all of these predictions where Hurd is gonna rush for 100+, Dobbs is gonna run for 70+ etc. make no sense in a realistic way.

The Mizzou defense is no joke. They will scheme to stop the run and force us to beat them with the passing game.

Maybe, maybe not. They have been inconsistent but here are a few numbers that don't scare too many people.

South Dakota State - 18
Toledo - 24
Indiana - 31
Georgia - 34
Vanderbilt - 14

As for their offense

Indiana - 27
South Carolina - 21 - we had 45
Georgia - 0 - we had 32
Vanderbilt - 24 - we will have whatever we want
Kentucky - 20 - we had 50 in 3 quarters

As I said, they are inconsistent but it's more than possible we blow them out. We need to stop the qb from running. He also doesn't handle pressure well. We need to attack him early. Our passing game can open up the running game.

They also held South Carolina to 20 points, the lowest point total of the year for a team that pretty much had been scoring in the mid to high 30s or low 40s.

Held UK to its second lowest point total of the year (10 puts), and did a fairly good job slowing down A&M, especially considering what it's offense had done against Auburn just the week before...that and 34 sacks in 10 games.

Again, no one's worried about their offense; it's not sexy, it doesn't score a lot of points. It's going to be how our offense does against their defense, though, that determines this game, especially their ability to generate great pressure from the defensive line and be in the QBs face all game long.

When Mizzou stops the hottest offense in the SEC once Dobbs took over they'll have my respect. Otherwise they're second rate.

They won't stop UT completely they may slow UT some, but UT scores enough points to get the job done.

I thought I mentioned they were inconsistent.

I hope Hurd runs all over them and Dobbs does the same, but the reality of it, and the stats bear it out, that its not likely to happen. Especially with a backup center starting and the other injuries across the Oline.

Mizzou's Defense may not be as good as Alabama's, but they are much, much better than USCjr and KY.

I'm not saying we'll lose, I'm just saying its not gonna be the cake walk everyone here thinks its going to be.

B.S. Most folks are saying it should be a tough game ... but we are favored to win, I hate to tell ya.

Really? I guess maybe its possible that you haven't read the prediction thread or some of the replies in this thread. As far as being favored, vegas has us at 3.5 I think (I haven't checked in a couple of days), which is a toss up. But hey, its your opinion that its BS. Its my opinion that its not.

Thanks we have our fair share of douche bags...most hang out on tigerboard....really the main sport on that board is smack talk..flaming and one up man ship! So you can't even take the posters serious. It's more about the art of flaming over there than legit discussion.

The Scout site use to have a nice free board but the current guys while good people don't really want to police a open site so...it's pretty dead.

So a lot of us Mizzou fans have to visit sites like this for legit football discussions.

We had a lot of Mizzou fans around us at the last home game. Great guys.
They loved Neyland. One of them texted me he's coming to Saturday's game.

Good points OP. I'm wondering where this cockiness is coming from. UT beat UK which is the measuring stick for crap football.
This team has beaten no one of consequence. The SC game went our way. But that was by a frog's hair and if that game goes then other way this season goes in the toilet. UT got curb stomped by a less than stellar OU team, Bama, and Ole Miss. And Butch managed to lose at home to a UF team that fired its coach and played the worse 4 years of football post Spurrier.
Now scandal. Negative? No, realistic.
UT loses against Mizzou.

Funny how you predict the near-future, based on past losses of ours this season such as OU, Ole Miss and Florida when Dobbs did not play a snap. He is our QB now and I'm sure you have noticed ... we are a much-different team from what we were.

But even without Dobbs, we dueled GA pretty dam close, unlike Mizzou's 34-0 loss to them -- that was more of a "curb-stomping" than any of our losses.

I think this will a good tough game. But -- despite our recent loss of Crowder, AJ and Randolph, I just don't see enough reason for anyone to squall that Mauk's team is probable to beat Dobbs team in Knoxville Tennessee. Not seeing it. Bring it on.

Actually it was 2 ranked. A&M was 20 or 21 at the time.

I haven't heard a single prognosticator pick Mizzou today. I even picked UT 34-31 over MU. The loss of AJ is the only reason I have it this close.

I really believe this will come down to which team makes more mistakes. Their defense is opportunistic but Dobbs so far has been relatively mistake free. Game On!

Coaching...they have obviously done their "Dobbswork". Gentlemen Gary Pinkel may be the best coach in this conference now...and I said for now.

It just blows my mind at how football stupid some of our fans and members are here. Most simply spout off at the mouth based on emotions instead of actually knowing and understanding football.

True that. Its just the arrogance that some have when you try to bring them to reality. Just like all this stuff about "astro" Dobbs. He can't be too effective when he's running for his very life or on his back. Sorta like Worley.
