I went to the game Sat. Just barely missed on a couple of deep passes; totally whiffed on five potential TD passes. I'll admit I have never seen that in person, and I've been to several games since 1979. Hubbs and Price were saying a lot of that came after the injury, but multiple bad throws came before the injury too. I hate to bring up the elephant in the room, but there is a reason Saban did not recruit Squirrel. He is so small he makes for a small target on the deep passes. Even Hooker barely over threw him last year in the endzone. several of the passes to him would be completions to him if he had the same size as our other receivers. On the other hand Milton is not a turnover just waiting to happen like many other players above him on the list. He hasn't been holding the ball too long and getting hit as much like he did before. This is not intended to be another Milton sucks post. Just looking at the raw numbers. His current QBR ranking is #63: 2023 College Football Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN. For perspective that is well below many other SEC QBs, including Jalen Milroe at Bama which I find funny because everyone thinks Bama does not have a QB this year. Yet the QB they do not have is 23 places above ours. Just a reminder The formula for this rating involves the number of passing yards, touchdowns, pass completions, interceptions and other actions recorded by the player. The highest possible quarterback rating is 100, while the lowest is zero. I guess for those of you who feel our offense is off even though he shows moments of brilliance you really are correct. His production numbers are not competitive with the rest of the conference.
