‘People I Know Are In Tears’: Hundreds Gather To Protest Constructing Immigrant Detention Center ‘Alligator Alcatraz’

View attachment 751823
Hundreds of people lined a Florida highway Saturday to protest the construction of an immigrant detention center dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Protestors gathered alongside U.S. Highway 41 which cuts through the Everglades in the area known as Tamiami Trail, according to the Associated Press (AP). Those protesting included Native Americans advocating for their homelands and environmental activists, calling for the preservation of the area home to multiple endangered animal species and Native tribes, the outlet reported.

I seriously disagree with the building of this detention center.

Texas would be much closer to El Salvador.

Karoline Leavitt accuses CNN of ‘encouraging violence’ against ICE agents with new tracking app

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested on Monday that CNN was guilty of inciting and “encouraging violence” for its reporting on ICEBlock, a new app that tracks and alerts users to the whereabouts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

Daily Wire reporter Mary Margaret Olohan asked Leavitt to respond to the CNN report, considering there has been a 500% increase in assaults against ICE agents, according to recent DHS reports. Leavitt said she would need to see the segment herself but condemned CNN for airing it nevertheless.

“Surely, it sounds like this would be an incitement of further violence against our ICE officers,” Leavitt said. “As you know, as you stated, there’s been a 500% increase in violence against ICE agents, law enforcement officers across the country who are just simply trying to do their jobs and remove public safety threats from our communities.”

If that is true I don't see how they can do that, plus it's complete horse pucky that they would even try.
more information from grok:

The claim that the Trump DOJ is revoking citizenship of naturalized individuals "upon being charged with crimes" is misleading. A June 2025 DOJ memo prioritizes denaturalization for cases involving fraud, serious crimes, or national security risks, not just charges. Legal standards require proof of illegal procurement or misrepresentation. Critics warn of potential due process violations and unfair targeting, but the policy doesn't support automatic revocation on charges alone.

I'm 100% in agreement with stopping the naturalization process for people convicted of felonies and then deporting them after they go through the process. I'm also 100% in agreement of stripping citizenship from a naturalized individual if it's found that they lied/falsified their paperwork/application even in the absence of a felony conviction.

In no circumstances (other than fraud on the application/paperwork) should a citizen whether they were naturalized or birthright be stripped of citizenship and deported for any reason.

from grok:

in some countries, citizenship can be revoked for certain crimes, but the rules vary widely. In the U.S., for example, naturalized citizens can lose citizenship for specific offenses like treason, bearing arms against the U.S., or attempting to overthrow the government (8 U.S.C. § 1481).
This process, called denaturalization, typically applies only to naturalized citizens, not those born in the U.S., as the Supreme Court has historically protected birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment (e.g., Afroyim v. Rusk, 1967). Fraud during the naturalization process, like lying on applications, can also lead to citizenship being revoked.

Other countries, like the UK, allow citizenship deprivation for crimes deemed against the public interest, such as terrorism, even for natural-born citizens, though this can render someone stateless, raising legal concerns under international law (e.g., UN Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness). In contrast, countries like Canada have stricter limits, where revocation for crimes like terrorism was repealed in 2017 to avoid statelessness.

its a bad idea.

the government will never stop once they have the power to strip away citizenship. it will just get expanded with each new "emergency". no Covid vaccine, no citizenship. luthers greater good will override any individual right you, me, or anyone else may have. especially once he is able to strip away your citizenship, and then Trump's precedence of having a two class right system is going to bite us even harder.

Which part is the bad idea? The government has had the power to strip citizenship from a naturalized citizen for well over a hundred years. If someone is proven to have lied or fraudulently applied for citizenship it should be stripped and they should be deported.

depends on how they go about it. if the government comes back and redefines a whole bunch of stuff that gets you sent to band camp after you have been naturalized its a bad precedence. if protesting, or saying stuff the government doesn't like, gets you kicked off or targetted, its bad.

you are relying on the government being fair and balanced, and we aren't there now, and it will only get worse.

Reminds me of Mr Phillips, my 8th Grade math teacher..he was there for years and they found out he lied and never had a degree..I actually liked him.

Father Arrested By ICE Agents Outside His Home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An undocumented father’s arrest was caught on camera after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents came to his home.

The family is now claiming that their Fourth Amendment rights, which protect individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures, were violated.

Edgar Perez said all he could do was watch as his father, Gerardo Granados, was arrested on Tuesday morning by ICE agents.
