Disturbing Secret History of Woke LA Mayor Karen Bass resurfaces amid immigration Riots

As chaotic pro-migrant riots continue in Los Angeles, the woke mayor's disturbing past has come to light yet again.

Tensions grew increasingly high over the weekend as the Trump administration deployed the National Guard to crack down on the protests over immigration raids.

Amid the ongoing immigration riots, Bass's ties to Venceremos Brigade - an international socialist revolution group aimed at challenging US policies toward Cuba - have made their way back into the spotlight after they were revealed just months back during the city's disastrous wildfires.

She previously praised Fidel Castro and had close associations with the Caribbean country in her youth, traveling there in 1973 with Venceremos Brigade and seeing the communist leader speak.

In 2016, when Castro died, she referred to him as 'comandante en jefe' (commander-in-chief) saying his passing was a 'great loss to the people of Cuba.' She also reportedly gave a eulogy for a senior member of the Communist Party USA.

Bass has also been described as the 'leader of the Venceremos Brigade in southern California,' according to a report published by Tablet Magazine.

'Karen Bass was trained in revolutionary warfare and subversion during her many decades in the Cuban regime-sponsored Venceremos Brigades,' a user wrote on X.

SBA Moving Regional Office Out of L.A. Over City’s Refusal to Work with ICE: ‘If a City Won’t Protect It’s People, We Won’t Stay’

Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Kelly Loeffler revealed that the SBA would be moving its Regional Office out of Los Angeles after Mayor Karen Bass refused to cooperate with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

In a post on X, Loeffler responded to a post in which Bass said she was “deeply angered” after hearing “reports of federal immigration enforcement actions” being taken in the city. In Bass’s statement, she said her office was in “close coordination with immigrant rights community organizations” and would “not stand for this.”

“Los Angeles is openly refusing to cooperate with ICE – siding with illegal aliens over American citizens and small businesses,” Loeffler said in her post responding to Bass’s statement. “Therefore, effective immediately, @SBAgov will begin relocating its Regional Office out of L.A.”

The “big beautiful bill” passed by the U.S. House on May 22 includes a 5% tax on money non-citizens send to their home countries.

The tax will hit illegal immigrants, according to House leaders, but also will apply to guest workers in the country legally on work permits. The USDA estimates 40% of farmworkers are in the country illegally. The tax will apply to other types of workers.

The tax will amount to a pay cut, National Council of Agricultural Employers CEO Michael Marsh said. “It may put added pressure on the wage rate to cover the cost of the tax,” he said. The bill, officially titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” passed the House, 215-214. All 212 Democrats and two Republicans voted “no.” The bill now goes to the Senate.

Workers in the U.S. remit billions of dollars each year to other countries. India and Mexico are the leading recipients. The Inter-Development Bank, which finances projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, estimated workers sent $161 billion to those regions in 2024.

An estimated $65 billion was sent to Mexico. The Mexican government issued a press release condemning the tax. “This initiative has no justification for it, and we disagree with it,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Juan Ramon de la Fuente said. “We will pursue the strongest defense, both politically and legally, because we believe this U.S. revenue-raising measure should not affect a significant and vulnerable portion of our compatriots,” he said.

The tax was included in a section of the bill that called for tightening restrictions on illegal immigrants receiving public benefits. Under the bill, businesses transferring funds would be obligated to collect the tax, unless it verified the sender was a U.S. citizen or born in a U.S. territory. Marsh said remittances to Mexico and elsewhere allow families to invest at home, reducing the motivation to come to the U.S. illegally.

The tax, he said, “may encourage more irregular immigration,” he said. There is evidence that remittances to other countries lead to economic development, rather than just an increase in consumption, according to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Grok:

The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22, 2025, includes a 3.5% tax on remittances sent from the U.S. to Mexico by non-U.S. citizens, down from an initially proposed 5%. This tax targets non-commercial money transfers, such as those sent by immigrants to support family abroad, and is expected to generate $22.2 billion from 2026 to 2034. Mexico, receiving about $65 billion annually in remittances from the U.S., would be significantly impacted, with estimates suggesting a $2.3 billion economic hit.

Critics, including Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, call it discriminatory, arguing it burdens low-income migrants and could drive remittances to informal channels like cryptocurrencies or black-market services, undermining financial transparency. Supporters claim it funds domestic priorities like border security, including $46.5 billion for Trump’s border wall. The bill awaits Senate approval, with a vote expected by late June or July 2025

All the local channels in Southern California have broken away from their normal coverage to cover the Democrats "peaceful protests" in LA. They just cleared the busiest freeway(101) from being blocked by protesters. They had to use tear gas. The protesters were fighting with Police. They have now moved to another area and are setting fire to Waymo cars. They have spray painted them with F ICE and F the POLICE etc... Waymo are the driver-less taxis. The mayor just gave a news conference and blamed Trump and the National Guard but even the local liberal news stations are admitting that the Police may need help from the National Guard. There are 100s of Mexican Flags but few American Flags. Just a complete disgrace by the Democrats and their "peaceful" protesters. FYI burning plastic and batteries are horrible for the environment and can cause cancer etc...

Democrats are turning Los Angeles into Baghdad.

The issue is “jobs Americans don’t want.”

Take away welfare and they either work these jobs or starve.

Trust me their kids will see mom and dads hard life and suddenly wanna better themselves.

Love is tough sometimes.
instead of taxing that 65 billion going to Mexico every year from the US, the gov't should confiscate all of it and they would stop coming here.

it's one of the biggest scams and why Mexicans come here illegally, not to become citizens, not to learn English but to send as much money back to Mexico to build their dream homes. To make it crazier, while those Mexicans are here illegally, Dems want to give them everything for free......free food, free healthcare etc while they are sending billions to Mexico...

Haven't seen this level of chaos since the Democrats "peaceful" protests for George Floyd when they burned down buildings and looted businesses. I assume they will start looting soon in the name of immigration. They are also throwing bricks at city Hall and breaking windows.
