Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

If it had taken me nine years to build a team that was finally competitive in the Big 12 South, I would be a little reluctant to start over in the SEC East too.

It one of the best signs of intelligence I've seen from Leach. He knows he can't win in the SEC. We don't have to convince him, but all these other morons who thinks he can.

of cours eKffin is gonna wait till Hamilton makes his choice. Tennessee is te best available job, he is not going to pursue another job till ruled out here. Unfortunately for us Kiffins supporters Hamilton is going to go another direction

may have been posted but I read this about Leach this morning and laughed. I bet he could be the KNS sports editor too

His quirks sometimes obscure his coaching brilliance. For instance, there was the time he publicly wondered why one of the Lubbock weathermen did such a lousy job with the forecast.
Really, coach? You can do better? Want to come down and give it a try?
There Leach was on TV a few nights later, standing awkwardly in front of a map, mixing the tiniest bit of weather information with a few life lessons.
“On Monday, it says bad stuff — serious storms,” he told viewers. “Well, you’re going to be dead in a hundred years anyway. Live dangerously. Go out there and have a good time. Don’t be a coward. Stay out in it. Enjoy the day.”
And …
“My favorite weather pattern is when it rains mud.”
“My favorite weather pattern is when it rains mud.”
Huh?
“See, the dust comes through and it rains on top of it,” he said. “How many times in your life are you going to see it rain mud? Think about it. I love it. Worse thing about it is you have to wash your car. Who cares? It’s worth seeing. Trust me.”
Finally … “What do I know, I’m a football coach. I would suggest you do what I do. Get out of bed, go outside, then you know.”

If tech loses tomorrow to OU and then OU wins next weekend its likely that tech would have the lowest BCS score and not make the big 12 title game. Does UT then go after him a little harder since there is no concern about a national title?

Take it for what it is worth...

I got a call earlier today from a friend who talked to a guy that works for the law firm that handles this stuff and is on the board, yadda yadda yadda or something like that

Anyway, he says Leach is the guy and it is a done deal.

The announcement will be made basically when TT is out of the national title picture. If they lose this week and don't go to the Big 12 CG it will be after the regular season. If they go to the Big12CG and lose it will be after that game. If they go to the national championship game or maybe a BCS game it will be after that.

The guy I know says he thinks the guy is reliable, but is just someone he knew from college and bumps into every now and then.

just thought I would throw one more rumor in with the thousands of others

Whether this is true or not, I have no idea, but I would have no problem with leach. He has taken a Tech team that would be comparible with the likes of Ole Miss or Vandy in this conference and made them a NC contender. I will say, he is the one name whether you want him here or not that brings at least a little excitement to you because of what we have watched on offense this year and the possibility of what our offense could do next year.

There will be a lot of people upset here in Volnation if TT wins at Norman tomorrow.
The talk about M. Leach coming to Tennessee would increase exponentially, but, if Oklahoma wins, then the good old boys of Volnation will finally relax.(back to normal candidates)

Wrong. It will get even louder for Leach if TT loses because we won't have to wait another month after the NC game to get him

Now, that reflects reality.

I hope he wins out, then looses big time to the SEC team in the NC game. That serves two things 1) no way he leaves before the NC game 2) we can't wait untill Jan 5 or 6 to announce. We do not want this guy. He has done nothing untill this year, one good season should not elevate a guy to UT status.

What. Three wins this year. Only five two years ago. Sub .500 in conference games over the last 30. Big shoes to fill
