Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

Did I comment on Lubbock? I don't believe I did. I commented on Cincy because I have first hand knowledge having lived there for 12 years how awful their campus and facilities are.

Anymore brain busters?

Calm down dude, I like Kelly..... But the "Leach Sucks" banter is just plain B-O-L-O-G-N-A! I will quote myself below and move on to a rational discussion.....

"I have found myself debating over split hairs, IMO.... I like Kelly, I really do. I think he would do a fine job at UT. However, it is just laughable how some think that Leach just "CAN'T" succeed..... I think both would succeed and would take either."

I'm very calm.

I have never once claimed that Leach sucks.

AHH a sensible response , I too think both would succeed

I don't know how good or bad UCs facilities are. I do know Cincy is alot better to recruit to than dust bowl Texas. And yes many good teams recruit the area. But does TT not compete with Texas, OU, AM, OKSTATE and LSU in Texas. My point was compared to others in his conference Kelly is next to last in recruiting.

Not Brian Kelly - why hire someone from a second tier school that competes in a conference that is second rate at best?? He may have had some success but is he going to be able to recruit well enough to compete consistently in the SEC? I doubt it.

Hammy just needs to hire SOMEBODY so I can get back to work! :)
Never mind.... We will still need to argue about it!

I'm not sure if that aggie poster was real as well.
1 post and gone seems a bit suspicious

that said, Leach is a bigger thorn in the side of A&M than Spurrier was to UT when he was at Florida

Leach owns A&M and it tortures aggie fans

1 post because I'm an Aggie fan not a Vol fan. I spend most of my time on Texags.

I am an Aggie. Season ticket holder.

I know where we belong in the pecking order of our conference. Getting beat on a regular basis by Oklahoma and Texas makes sense to me (although note we have beat Texas the last two years.) They get there choice of the best recruits every year. Getting beat by Tech every year doesn't. A&M raises more money than any other program in the big 12 besides Texas. A&M has some of the best facilities in the Big 12. A&M consistantly pulls good recruits (based on ratings by rivals and the likes). The thing about the state of Texas is that is so big and spread out. Most of the top talent comes from the two major cities (Dallas and Houston) Not to play the race card but many of your inner city kids want to be close to home so their families can come see them play and they can afford to drive home. A&M is close to Houston and as stated before Tech is 5 1/2 hours away from Dallas. That is another reason that A&M is starting to play Arkansas every year in Dallas so maybe we can have an even better chance of recruitting these kids. So A&M has the facilities, the money, and the location advantage over Tech. Why does Tech keep beating A&M? The only other factor left is coaching. Someone above stated that Tech is only good this year. That is not entirely true. They lead the nation almost every year in offense. There big problem is defense. If Leach good go to a major progam and hire a good defensive coordinator the sky is the limit. He only needs an average defense and he has had a terrible deffense for most of his years.

Ok then that settles it, Hire Leach, Keep Chavis and We are national champs in 2-3 years...End of story!...Thank You all for playing! :-D

with elite athletes and a solid defense, a Mike Leach coached Tennessee team would be absolutely incredible

yeah, because leach has a great history of recruiting elite athletes.

honestly, did you think mike leach was a good coach PRIOR to this year? answer honestly...

As an offensive coach...ABSOLUTELY. 100% HONESTY. I have been a fan of Techs offense for several years now. They have always been fun to watch, and done more with less than just about anyone you can name.

I don't know if Leach is the right guy, but we could do much worse. His primetime ABC exposure this year has gotten him noticed. He could recruit offensive players next year at a school like UT on name only. Offensive players will be beating down his door to play in his system. If it translates to championships then there is no reason to believe it would stop.

Just for the record, the way a lot of the Tenn fans have acted on this board has lead me to believe you don't deserve Leach. Your program would destroy him because your expectations are out the window for a team that won't finish with a winning record. The arrogance on this board seems very similar to a certain fanbase residing in College Station, Tx. I highly suggest some of you not bash a program that has the current No. 2 team in the nation while your own sits at the bottom of the barrell. This is in no way a bash on the previous success of the Vol program because we know how good you all USED to be. However, I will keep my gloating to a minimum considering we have no NTs or Big 12 titles at the moment. As a word of advice, directed toward VolnMiami, I suggest you not compare our program to the likes of Baylor. I am still laughing at that comment. I also suggest some of you stop trying to sport the pirate theme, that's ours, thanks.:pirate:

As for the Aggot who attempted to let everyone know how "poor" our facilities and program are, PLEASE don't make me remind you that your :shaking2: is property of Texas Tech University. I highly suggest you take your poisonous dribble back to that God forsaken message board (texags) with the rest of those psychos. While you're at it, run to the top of Kyle Field and be so kind as to jump off.:wavey:

well, at least you're correct that A&M sucks now, partially because of the way that Texas Tech has dismantled them for years, humiliated them, damaged their program, and was the chief reason their coach got $hitcanned

fail. You live here. Do some research.

Enjoy this year. It pains me to say this but I'm pulling for tche. Your still not our biggest rival though regardless of the whoopin Leach has handed out the last few years. And to add on a final note, your fan base should take a lesson on class aswell. I think both sides have some real tools in the stands.

Thanks and gig em.

Go ahead and answer the question. This should be fun.

I've written more than enough in support of Leach.

Here are some Kelly facts that you might want to consider. Or ignore. Or claim don't mean anything, unless they apply to Leach. And it's negative. Then it should count as everything.

Noteworthy:

During his time at Grand Valley State (his longest time in a single place as head coach), he failed to make the Division II playoffs a staggering 54% of the time (7 of 13 seasons)

And this is the guy who you all now want to hand the keys to at Tennessee?

This is him? This is the guy that we’re scouring the earth to find, waving more money around than a drunken sailor on leave…..this is the best you think that we can bring home to Rocky Top? This is your guy?

Really?

Oh, you say he’s “fiery” and “passionate”…..uh, ok. Does that count as points on the scoreboard next season? No?

It’s good to know, though, I guess. If you need to make a point, and don’t have the benefit of “facts” to support it.

Hey, if you can convince both yourselves and others that this is the guy that the University of Tennessee should hire as its next football coach – you’ve really pulled one off, because I just don’t see it.

Maybe I need to do a comparison of those who were “pro-Davis” this time last week, and those who are “pro-Kelly” this week. Likely, it’s just easier to just call them “anti-Davis”.

good say Tenacious D !
i dont want Kelly either !
he isnt a winner as much as he should be with the horrible conferences he's been in !
Urban Meyer's resume was WAYYY better than his before going to FLA

Everything I have said is accurate. I agree and stated above that Tech has owned us in football during the Leach years. But once Leach is gone (and it will happen even if not to UT) Tech will fall again. Leach wanted to go to Miami but didn't get hired. He won't leave unless it is a top notch program, but he will leave. As much as it hurts to see Tech rise this year, it may be best because he is getting the national press that will take him away.

By the way, Tech has never won a Big 12 title in ANY SPORT!!! Nobody wants to go to that dump of a college. I grew up in West Texas. The only people that went to Tech were the retards that couldn't get into A&M or Texas.

You're wasting your time Ag. They lost electricity out in Lubbock due to a dust storm. They're all huddled under the tree now.
