Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

Exactly. Why would any high school recruit want to play in Leach's feeble 48 points/game offense when they could play for Clawson's prolific 16 points/game offense.

You can use that quick wit all you want. But big time high school recruits are not going to play for him now at Texas Tech even though they score 48 points a game.

Agreed cause there are to many other big time programs out there. What are your thought however on if he came here to coach, would big time recruits then come here to play in that offense?

Much easier to recruit at Tennessee than Texas Tech.

There are tools in place that make it possible to be more successful recruiting at UT. But that does not mean it is easier to recruit at UT. At Texas Tech, he just sits back and lets second tier Texas high school recruits fall to him. At UT he will have a harder time recruiting because its a huge task (national recruiting) but with the possiblity of being much more successful. So I disagree.

Tennessee has much more tradition and national exposure than Tech and of course he'll have to work at it but I have not doubt he'll get better players at UT. He is at his peak now and primed to take a high profile program to the top and I hope we win the leach lottery.

I seriously think you need your head examined.

I thought this was interesting:

Texas Tech's last 5 years recruiting rankings:

2005 - 37th
2006 - 25th
2007 - 52nd
2008 - 45th
2009 - 23rd (so far)

2006 class was only 25th because it had like 30+ recruits in that class. His average star ranking is quite low. 52nd? 45th? Ouch.

YES, I'm serious! Rivals.com Tennessee # 6 Texas Tech #23 and that's a good year for Tech.

Granted the new staff could clean up the mess, don't expect that #6 ranking to stick. Recruits are going to continue to decommit as long as we continue to pay coaches to tell high schoolers to not come here.

Looks like We have a new #1 what with Gruden coming out and saying he was not interested and Davis saying the same thing...Leach is our new #1 choice...And a damn good one it is!...He's the one We actually have a realistic shot at landing.

exactly plus he's not gonna treat UT like a stepping stone and leave.I think he wants to be involved with UT and singing Rockytop Tennessee.

I'd say is pretty fricken hard to recruit in TX. You have the longhorns and the sooners.. everyone else gets leftovers.. If he came here and was successful early(especially with his passing attack) it would convince blue chip qb's and wr's to come to Tenn. However i'm still up in the air over which one to want. Kiffin or Leach. guess it all depends on USC's success was Kiffin or Carroll.

I personally go by results...Leach has a lot of results, Kiffin, not so much...That pretty much kinda settles it in my mind lol

Texas Tech's last 5 years recruiting rankings:

2005 - 37th - 9-3
2006 - 25th - 8-4
2007 - 52nd -9-4
2008 - 45th - 10-0
2009 - 23rd (so far)

And what was the class rakings for Fulmer and his record over the last five years? I say Leach knows how to make really good players out of average to slightly above ones. Above all else playing together as a team. Makes you wonder what he could do with a constant top 15 class?

It is easier to recruit the better players at UT. We don't typically settle for everyone else's droppings.
Mike Leach may be a good coach but he is not a good fit at UT.
